Trigger, it could be worth noting that Saxon recorded their live album 'The Eagle Has Landed' (great album BTW) on some of these European dates in addition to Hammersmith. So, a mobile studio was following Saxon around for at least a few of these dates. Wonder if they recorded the opening act as well?

Another bit of trivia: Saxon went into the Musikladen TV studio in Bremen to film several songs in early November. I'm a bit surprised that Ozzy wasn't filmed or recorded by anyone in Europe apart from Offenbach. I know that the Australian band, Rose Tattoo, toured the UK and Germany in 1981 also, and 2 proshot concerts have surfaced from those tours. And the Tatts had a lower profile than Ozzy....

I think Rudy covered all the dates that they played in Europe and the other tours in his book.

hi Matt,

If I have to be a geek then a 'RR geek' is OK by me

Mozart 82 is right:

Rudy's book says they played on:

November 5-Hamburg
6-Wolfsburg
8-Koln
9-Offenbach
10-Saarbruchen
11-Karlsrube
12-Bosenburf

They visited France but played no shows, left on November 18 to return to England.
7 shows cancelled: 3 in Germany, and the rest were Geneva-22nd, Streburg-23rd, Paris-24th and Lille-25th.

The drummer in my band is close friends with Nigel Glocker from Saxon, who was on that tour!,will try and get some info from him about those gigs they did together, maybe some new tales from the road, hardly any info reported from anyone on that tour so might be interesting!.Will post anything our drummer can get out of Nigel.

This period in Randy's history is the area we know least about.

Yeah that would be very interesting. I remember Saxon's guitarist Graham Oliver having jammed with Randy and having alot of admiration for the guy. Randy had time for all the guys in the bands that Ozzy toured with. Budgie's John Thomas being another guy who was a very good friend. I wonder if he is still in PM's docu ?.
