[quote="stress2stress2"]In times like these, to help give myself some real perspective on RR footage that I (a serious fan) deserve, I keep in mind that there are only two known photos (possibly a 3rd) of blues great, Robert Johnson.....2 pictures only![quote]
That's an excellent point. Another musical icon to consider is Hank Williams...he died in 1953 and about 15 years ago someone found a kinescope video of him doing 2 songs on one of the first television shows. Several years back someone found a box of acetate recordings he made of early morning radio programs in a dumpster. After several years of legal battles his estate finally won control of the rights and they are being released on CD.
I think it will be the same with Randy, things will keep coming up and I don't think anyone has an idea of just what, how or when they might appear.
I paid $30.00 for my first After Hours boot in 1982. I'll pay whatever the asking price is for whatever is coming, in whatever quality or condition.

You have a point there & I mentioned exactly the same here a few years ago.stress2stress2 wrote:I don't post much but I posted this over at .tk and felt it was appropriate to say it here, too.

Every time I think of that, I realize just how lucky I am to have seen all the photos AND footage of Randy. Brings me back to reality quickly.
What luck that we have what we do!
Fans of Charlie Parker have only 30 seconds footage of him.....
But with these it's almost certain there isn't much more out there. It is what it is. There are no clues that stuff is hidden away.
But it's a little different with Randy:
We can almost be certain there is lots of stuff hidden away. If Randy had his peak in say 1930 and there wouldn't be more it would be still less frustrating as it is now. It's frustrating because we know people hide stuff in case of Randy........ This is really a weird situation and need to be stopped. People have every right to complain about that. (imo)
The winner of the rat race is still a rat.

Great point Dutch.. Like you said, im sure material from the 30s, 40, and 50s would naturally be hard to come by.. Where as were talking the 1980s, when every band was recording shows. Not to mention it was Ozzy Osbourne, the former lead singer for Black Sabbath! And even though Randy was an unknown, he was starting to garner lots of attention, as evidenced by winning awards and such.. Combine all of that with countless people saying shows were taped and there you go.. Its out there.. And as I said before, hopefully whatever Ozzy puts out is the tip of the iceberg.. Maybe people will share what they have.. It truly is time..

exactly!!just like the footage you can find on ac/dc...going back to dave evans!bon scott was practically videotaped using the bathroom with all the footage of them back in the early 70's!and i know there is no way they had a so called budget to film an unknown group at the time...but they still recorded them no matter what..mostly pro shot at that..but the majority of the footage just started leaking a few years back..god knows what else is on video..i feel the same about randy.there has to be alot of stuff on film but due to ozzy bieng self conscience of his voice at the time(his bad days)he nor sharon will release anything..plus maybe the legal issues etc..who knows?
what i find weird if you dont hve details is that ozzy didnt make any music videos with the band until bark at the moon. HOWEVER considering they made each album on extremly limited time and toured for basicly the time when they werent in the studio its truley no suprise they didnt. although it disapoints me to have my favorite band with the best guitarist to have such a limited range of footage at a time where videos and mtv was on its way to popularity.

It is kinda surprising Wareagle.. Because Oz was just getting out on his own without Sabbath. You would have thought they would have used all avenues to promote it.. But on the other hand, it was a very short 2 years.. Between touring and recording maybe they were looking at the bigger picture? I know everything weve read indicated that Randy was gonna leave, but would he really have?? And If he did, for how long?? Maybe the whole band takes 6 months off and picks right back up after a break..
Who knows.. There are so many variables and unknowns.. But I still say the footage is out there.. I dont know how much of it there is, I first wanna see what Ozzy releases, and what Margolis has in his Documentary.. Anyone other than those 2 that may have footage will likely release if those 2 dvds do well sales wise.. I truly believe any true fan would have already released any footage of Randy if they had it.. So maybe these 2 films/concert will prompt people to start looking in their archives..

Ive read that too War, Ozzy talking about the new stuff Randy was doing.. I kinda think both would have happened.. I think Randy would have persued his Classical degree, but I also think there would have been a third album.. You gotta realize how hard it is being on tour for 2 years.. People get burnt out, and say shit.. I mean my band gigs every weekend, and at least once a month I say fuck this shit Im tired of it.. LOL.. So who knows.. It sure is fun to think about though isnt it??

ttrue 2 years flying round everywhere would drain me. only person that can do that is ozzy lol. constantly touring ozzy. i feel if randy left ozzy would get someone else. lets say jake e lee for arguments sake, i dont think randy would come back just because all parties were happy, hed be doing what he wants and ozzy would be touring
I think Randy would have gone back to school for a about 2yrs, then got back with Quiot Riot as they were popular at that time(didnt metal health come out in like 83 or 84?) Most likely it would have been a two guitarist band with Carlos as i doubt they would just boot him out of the band after they made it big with a couple songs there.
After that, i think Randy would have gotten deep into the glam scene of the 80's, makeup, big hair, and all that good stuff...Would have been kinda gay but everyone did it then and Randy seemed to really love that seen from his early days.
As far as Ozzy, it think the live album he was committed to and thats it, A band does not tour for 2yrs and come up with no new material at all, theres always ideas out there, either randy was not sharing them(other than with Don) or noone was interested in making new stuff, you figure Rudy and Tommy would be all over it since they had no part of those two albums

I think Shockwave is onto it. Somewhere in that 1987-90 era Randy would have been offered a ton of money to join Whitesnake. David Coverdale was shrewd at picking great guitarists who'd performed in bands where the singer was the name - Viv Cambell (Dio), and Steve Vai (DLR). He also recruited Rudy & Tommy, so yeah, DC would have been after Randy for sure.

I agree Wareagle. Ozzy once said something like "knowing what I know now, I wish I'd done 5 albums with that band"-meaning Randy, Bob & Lee. Rudy and Tommy were awesome live, but yeah that original lineup wrote incredible songs.
It is so weird how Randy was the one to go. It really is one of the biggest tragedies in modern music that I can think of. When I think about the crash I get frustrated, then I get angry, then I think 'accept it-it happened.' But Ozzy
...let's just say people have passed on sooner for doing less than what he's done over the years
I don't wish him anything bad, but yeah Randy's death and Ozzy's life are both mysterious in some ways.
