Thanks Matthew. This one has a very rich thick tone and sustain for days!! The epiphone Les Paul I have has the active EMG 81/85 combo and it sounds completely different. thinner tone I guess. The GMW Polka Dot V is the second closest to the Gibson in tone, just not as fat and thick. My Washburn Paul Stanley guitar is the closest of all to the tone of my Gibson, but not nearly as nice to play as the Gibson or PDV. The PDV is the easiest to play of all, but the Gibson tone is the best of all.

It is TOO LOUD to play. It sounds pretty cool going through the attenuator, but not as cool as straight through the amp, but pictures litterally fall off the wal when I turn it up to as little as 3.5!! I mostly bought it as a collector thing. I am a HUGE fan of Randy, so I had to have it.NoQuattro wrote:How you liking that 1959RR so far? I'm tempted to build a 50 watter version of that amp.

Sweet axe man.
Make sure you don't get addicted to the Les Pauls and end up with too many of them (can you have too many LPs?) like me........... BTW, you just can't match the noise a genuine Gibbo LP makes. Probably just a mental thing, but copies (even expensive signature Epi's) just don't cut it to me.
Matt got the chance to try the real mccoy a while ago (60 LP standard) - lucky sod...!
I'd love to rattle that 59RR with my white LP Custom though.

Cool guitar. If I were to have a Gibby LP, it'd have to be an 80s RI of an older LP. For recording purposes, I like them and older Fender Strats for rhythms and leads, respectively. Then I'd use my LTD's live. That'd be my future goal, anyways.
