Educate me on the Jackson RR guitar.........

Post by espvh »

Can someone educate me on the Jackson RR guitar please, I would love to get one, budget is an issue. I read about the American models, the Pro and JS models and even an Asian X series. What's the good, the bad, the ugly, how much are they, what to avoid, and is anyone here selling?

Thanks all!

I think Craig here (Zakk Daniels) has a Jackson RR guitar. At RRTK the members all speak very highly of a guitar called the Jackal which is hand made I believe, and many say is cheaper and superior to the RR1.

The other guys here will know way more than me, but I know a lot of people too speak highly of the Japanese made RR5 too.

Here is info on the RR3 along with some reviews. This one sells for $699 US.

I've owned 3 RR guitars 2 RR3s and an RR5 and I've returned them all within a week. The craftsmanship was fine, the playability of the neck was fine, the tone was fine, the issue, for me was the body style. The upper wing gets in the way of my elbow the way I play and is simply annoying.

I'd say get to a guitar store and try one if possible. I wanted one because I've been an RR fan for so long, but I simply don't like playing those guitars.

I've heard that Randy didn't like them all that much after he got them... that's why he stuck to the Les Paul as much as possible.

well if your on a budget, may i offer www.Rondomusic.com

it's got good guitars at dirt cheap pricing. i'm getting this one for my bday in a couple days:

http://www.rondomusic.com/dracobk.html

though, if you want a guitar with a tremolo in a Jackson RR form:

http://www.rondomusic.com/product2647.html

that's pretty good i guess.

the only problem with them i've ever really read about is that the electronics suck, but the craftsmanship is really good. so you might want to check them out.

I've owned a couple guitars from Rondo Music... the electronics are fine. They are not high end quality, but still good. If you are going on a world tour, probably not the best choice. If you're going to play in your bedroom while learning your craft, the're great.
