Well I came home from work and said to myself lets cheer up the people at UR a bit......!

Nothing against a signature Les Paul for the more wealthier people that can afford it. (I maybe even buy it!)
My point is that when it comes to honour or remember Randy there are better alternatives out there that doesn't cost an arm or leg that can make a lot more people happy! (but these things are stopped...)

(I said 'maybe'... )

I agree somewhat but i do feel it should be released. I would rather see it done rather than not done at all. Randy's favorite guitar was his LP. There are really only two famous people who sported the really yellowed look of the white LP's, one was Randy and the other is the "The edge" from U2, I would rather see Randy get his signature of this color rather than edgy and he would probably agree with that also.

They are always overpriced but thats the way it is, there always 5k and up and thats just to be expected. For most, that is to much, for me it is too much now but i can picture myself in my 40's when im well off being able to afford one easily. All these guitar makers that make a signature line know this, that is why they make them such a limited run..they are for die hard fans only and even if your a diehard then the money comes into play and that even drops the production down even more.

Ill tell you what, you should look at the Edwards Les Pauls. I bought one and ended up selling both my GIBSON LES PAULS because of them, you can get them for about $850 shipped from japan. They are truly great guitars, they are owned by ESP but go under the name edwards in Japan, they are unreal. Here are some pics of mine.

all the specs are that of older gibsons, all craftsmen ship is perfect, they use the old method of mounting the neck to the body as gibson used to do before it switched over in the late 70s i think it was?

Here is the site, i will direct you directly to the edwards sections, but the have many other brands that are top notch. I guess thats what $5hr workers get you out there rather than the same guys making them here for $50hr+

http://www.guitarjapan.com/edwards/index.html

The series i bought was the Lacquer Taste Series, I bought the 98LTC..These use NITRO Finishes so they will age and get better.

They have many nice LP variations, so check em all out though!

You are giving me some serious GAS mister! Nice guitar! 8) The pictures on the site don't do your guitar justice.

Lets stop buying Gibson and start buying these Edwards:

NO let's NOT do that at all , Even though Gibsons are expensive and they sometimes release questionable guitar designs , they are a 100% proven brand that holds their value well and it's an American product made by people lucky to have employment !

I know what you are saying and I agree with that but I didn't mean it that way; I meant only for the people who liked the creamy colour but didn't want to pay 5k+ for it :)

Vintage (the brand) make good cheap LP's as well, plus you can get relic'd models if thats your thing. I recently gutted my LP and completely rewired it. It was a worthwhile mod and has recaptured my interest in LP's... a little.

Unfortunatly the strat has captured my heart. Im a single coil boy now! something of a rareity among the rock/metal gang

I'd like to see Gibson make this Randy guitar, but i just can't see the point of actualy buying one. I look forward to seeing the specs.

Well it's not all bad, it's nice for randy to get some recognition from the industry. Just a shame the results are a bit questionable :D

I think a better way to display Randy's talents to new potential fans would be to release Southampton 1980 and Montreal 1981 as CD's and release a box set of footage on a luxury DVD, that would really be worth waiting for
When you have got through them you can trawl through youtube and watch all the interviews that are being made!

I do think Gibson deserves the name, after all they build thousands of fine guitars!!
I also think it is good for the legacy of RR, to have signature Les Pauls, even though I feel that yes, it is motivated by sheer business and not music!!

However, I love Japanese Guitars and even today in London, was bowled over by a Jap instrument. It doesn't surprise me that the Edwards is spoken of so highly. Fender Japan in my opinion kick Fender USA's butt too ;)
My Gretsch Brian Sezter too is Japanese (like my three Fenders), and built so damn well!!! :)
