I think it was the vibe randy gave off more than his actual physical appearence. His gait, posture stuff like that, he carried himself well 8)
Even in dressed down pictures he looks pretty cool.

If i compare him to other players you may get the point more. I've always thought Yngwie looked bloody good, the cover of Eclipse just bleeds coolness imo. But go on youtube and watch him perform (especialy more recent stuff) He looks a bit out of sorts for me, i mean the leg kick thing he does just seems to highlight the fact that he is no longer a slim 20 something.

On a side note i like the look of 80s metal, i think its part of the show, But i think its best if it stays on the stage.

These past few years when i've watched Yngwie on dvd and Youtube , I can't help but think that he's almost become a parody of himself .

Exactly, when i first watched footage of him i couldn't believe it. I just thought; "what the hell happened to this guy?"

He's not as fat as some people say but if you're going to act like a 25 year old on stage you better have the gut for it. I haven't seen any footage of recent Van Halen shows but i can't imagine David Lee Roth runs about dong scissor kicks :D

I saw Randy walk out in front of me and I just remember looking at this unique looking person. I only saw a couple pics before this of him but that was it.. I was fumbling through the Diary Internationl Tour book actually before the lights went out and he came out. I thought he looked different than all the other guitar hero type guys and I sort of stood there with my mouth open. Course Diary intro is pumping through the PA,but I can say he had this presence and aura about him from his high heel shoes up to this maine of teased hair.. Yes he started in this awesome rock star pose as he walked to the front of the stage and kicked his one leg spread out wide and banging his head making those painfull faces. Over the mountain was kicking in and his playing took over where my mouth really dropped. His look, his sound, his playing, his genius, his passion, his intelligence, his writing, and his love for the guitar and music all made him to be what we loved and are amazed by. Yea it's Rock N Roll.

Oh, love the Yngwie, it's pretty funny, quite a caricature. Btw, I would say the same goes for Steve Vai, he sorta jokes about all that stuff on stage from time to time, about the young good looking guy being in his band..

I love guitar faces!!! IF they are genuine.
I make faces when I play, but it's not really conscious. I play and move how I feel at all times, face too. I can understand how people don't like them, but I like anyone who is into it, even if that means they are not moving and are expressionless. As long as it's for real and not "posed".
AND let's not forget our boy made ALOT of faces! hahaha! And I love all of them too.
Just a human expressing themselves., nothing wrong with that. As with everything it comes down to personal preferences.
so in summary.... Guitar faces rule!!!! hahaha!

Agreed completely! I was targeting the facial expressions of self love, more than the genuine, lost in the moment look faces LOL...and for some reason the 'self love' faces of quasi ecstasy seem to fester in the wannabe Rock legends the most.
Having a break from online activity for a while to concentrate on music. Please email if you need to get in touch. Matt

Oh most definately! I'm with ya on that one. Nothing worse than the "planned" emotion. I have alot of fun when I play live, so I can't hide it!
