I've been breaking many many many high E strings recently on my Jackson. I've got no more and no money to buy any more, I've even taken the old ones off of my other guitars and put them on it. I guess I'll have to go back to my old lighter plecs

Having a bass string fly off and whip you must hurt like crazy!

I am a drummer and a few years ago i started snapping Bass Drum pedals across the metal. Thats an expesive habit to break, the money it cost replacing them.

A floyd rose eats strings !

But if they break near the bridge, you can losen them with the tuners on the neck and lock them again so you can break the same string a few more times.

Nooooo! It's not trueeee, since my Jackson has a name and that isn't a name but something I own, however I don't own a Jackson guitar! I own a woman trapped in the body (and neck) of a guitar which happens to be labelled Jackson however this must be a mistake!

One of those excuses has to work :D .

Sorry to hear that guys! 'Cos My 20 year old Kahler (lic. floyd rose) 2700 NEVER breaks strings. Proper stretching of the string may help with the Floyd..I stretch mine real good before locking 'em down. Just my 2 cents...I never owned a REAL floyd, so I may just be full of s**t!

you r correct Dean, you should for a few days do a couple of up bends with the floyd to help stretch them

Like you I use Kahler (floyd roses) and for sure always stretch the strings really before locking them. I had once a Kahler with bridge wheels but I broke strings with that as well. Tremelo or not I always break strings! That's why I use Floyd type tremelos because I can break a string more than one time then.

But there are more factors here, like how hard you pick, body sweat, the way you bend strings, string gauge, the way you use the tremelo etc....

I try to make my bends sound like harmonics by bending them slower so it rises gradually. sounds pretty good. Might be why mine broke?
