Like you I have really reached into my free will and free thought and I find myself stranded on my political island. I do however see it shares more in common with religion than many others would notice, i.e. tolerance equality and compassion.
I was referring to the way that people in the church have marginalized and tainted other monotheistic religions , both Judaism and Islam have both been the target of the church for varying reasons. What might have changed things now is that we as a populace are better educated and we no longer rely on a church to inform us of the truth behind issues.
Hi Ian

I think what is right for one person isn't always right for another that is all. Nicole says about how we cannot see into the hearts of other men is so true to me. I think, like the theories of a multiverse, truth too, isn't absolute and one sided, but multi faceted and relative!

There are so many similarities with music and philosophy/religion in that you can know your theory inside out, you can know which chords complete which progressions, you can learn to read the scores and understand the meaning of every note, but without action/experience you do not have music, which is first and foremost and experience... You just have facts and quotations. Religion and music only come alive with action and actually 'doing something'.

The so called theory of music just intellectualises the experience of music. Interestingly for all the knowledge of music that exists, the most simplest things cannot be explained, ie why do three different pitches played in unison make even babies feel sadness or happiness?

Or as I was writing to Paul recently about Morpheus in the Matrix. Neo doesn't why, when he has the knowledge Morpheus has shown him, that he has not achieved the desired result. Morpheus the wise git he is replies

"There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path"

If anyone is reading this can they pray for my damn back as it went a few hours ago and I am walking around the house like Ozzy Osbourne!!

Ian I promise not to start leafletting you and posting pictures of Jesus on your facebook profile okay! :)

So much so that I received an e mail from a mod, from another Randy site, that said he not only found the discussion fascinating, but a breath of fresh air how things like that could be discussed, without on screen wars etc.

Anyway - Has anyone, especially the Christians registered here read any of the books on the argument Jesus visitng India in 'the lost years'?

I ask, because I have just read a fascinating book (well I read it three times in total) that uses records found in India and other religious scripture that Jesus trained with Yogi masters and it also cites many of his teachings and the simlarities in the 4 published gospels too of the new testament.

It seems to make much sense, very fascinated to hear opions etc.

Danny this thread has always maintained being even handed although one or two posts were made that were provocative, they were ignored and deserved to be!
I have enjoyed what has been said here and as a non believer this thread has always respected my left on centre political views, and in return hope I have always given believers all due respect in return. I know some have been offended by having beliefs questioned in this thread but even after trawling the thread I found nothing that was offensive.

Enjoy what is said questioned and the integrity that is demonstrated.

I was looking up clips on Andy Kaufman and found this ghost picture compilation. What do you reckon of the video and/or the subject of ghosts or spirits. I wonder if any RR band mates have had any experiences of Randy? Bernie Torme first hand told me about the spookey pedals being pressed of their own accord...

enjoy the spookey-ness

I believe in ghosts and spirits. Not in the cheesy sort of "THEY ARE GONNA HURT YOU AND HAUNT WHERE YOU LIVE" kind of thing. I imagine it's sort of a Casper the Friendly Ghost type thing; spirits and ghosts that are still on earth have "unfinished business."

Nicole,

I am staying with Suzie in a house that is about 500 years old. The mansion next door, which our mate owns too, we are with was built also around the same time. Additional bits were added to make it what it is now, but it was made into the mansion in 1756 (Mozart's birthday).

Anyway there is a reported lady who walks the stair case and I keep going up there at all hours and the old cow hasn't made herself known to me.

If she tries to scare me I may just shoot a lady killer face back at her :)
