Yeah Ian i get what your saying but if it was a news related feature it would of been over before it started. People are looking for Randy filmed on stage for as long as possible. If the people who went to the gig are saying that they didn't see any cameras. Is that not a good indication that it wasn't filmed. We can all look at pics and assume 'that's a video camera in that guys hands'. But when you have spoke to people who were backstage and in the crowd watching the gig. Who say i never seen any camera crew or if it was on the TV. It may have made a short snippet in the local regional news but was Randy on that snippet ?. I hate to sound like a negative asshole but its my view that if it was filmed at all it would of been seen by someone.

I take your point Shaun

I think chances are the crew were there on the Friday and filmed during soundchecks, so baring that in mind chances remain strong that Randy was filmed for however long readying himself for the full show the nextday.
Also the Ozzy band were big news in 1981 in Britain following the success of the 1980 tour.

+1
I spoke to someone who went all the way from my country to Port Vale to see Def Leppard, and after that he became a big RR fan!
He told me he saw people filming there, but he couldn't give me any more details only that he did remember that people were filming..... :?

Pat youve mentioned this before Def Leppard didn't play at the HMH it was Ozzy who replaced Black Sabbath, Vardis, Riot, Frank Marino, Triumph and Motorhead.

Yeah Ian plus the band had travelled from the US to play the Port Vale gig on the same day. I think Ozzy mentions it on the bootleg of the show. So they wouldn't of been there until the Saturday of the gig. I'm assuming it was on a Saturday.

Well, there you go!
I gonna try to dig up a very old mail to check what he told me exactly.
What bugged me was that he remembered they were filming, though couldn't give any details. I mean if you remember something of an event, one have to remember at least some (maybe vague) details...... because otherwise you wouldn't remember it!

Just stumped on this http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/heavy-me ... caust.html
Great pics from HMH from some other bands, and no cams either.....

Here is one with Vardis on stage:

Good point Shaun, but should the crew have used video cameras or the TV crews been there is one thing BUT as a fan like me who was around then can you remember this gig being very anticipated? I know we were all talking about Ozzy coming back with the new band.
