I am open to the possibility of some footage existing, but then the thought comes to mind that if it did, wouldn't someone have released it by now to cash in on Randy's death? I mean, I paid $20.00 in 1985 for a HORRIBLE copy of AfterHours. It was the ONLY footage I knew of at that point. I would think someone would have come forward by now, if only for the money.
Then of course, there is the possibility that either someone has been biding their time, or that the Osbourne's own it all.
I guess all of this has already been said, but that's just my 2 bits...

This of course is very interesting: (hope he is not referring to the "After Hours" show...)
Pat i emailed Dave and asked him about the possibilty of the filmed footage being from the 'After Hours' footage.I sent Dave a clip from then and he said this :
"The link to the video clip 'After Hours' was not from the live recording that was made in USA. The video that I remember must still be out there somewhere??? "
So the search for unseen footage looks very hopeful i'll take up the investigation further.
I had a reply from Dave and this is what he had to say in regards to the filmed footage " As for the film footage I cannot help you any further there, I just know it was shot professionally."
:)

I am sorry for the delay in getting back to those who have asked about the video I mentioned a few months ago.
I have had a few tough months first I was ill and had to take time away from here, then our son was born and I had to catch up with my large workload.
Some of you might have wondered if the leaked Trailer from the documentary was what I was referring to the answer is NO! that came to us shortly on the same day we showed it on site.
As a serious and long standing collector of Ozzy Osbourne live audio/video I was approached about a video that had been recorded of Ozzy in 1982, I was skeptical at first because those who have been doing this for a while know that this normally leads to yet another recording of Brad and Ozzy and the TV broadcast called ‘Speak of the Devil’. However this communication developed and the background to this is that it was audience recorded and from early March 1982. The film was shot by the present owner’s brother who attended 2 shows in March and recorded the second of these.
Though I haven’t seen the video the owner and I have spoken on the phone and I have heard parts of the show, I asked for the gap between Mr. Crowley and Crazy Train so I could make sure this wasn’t just a trick! And was an existing audio being touted as new!
The dialogue didn’t fit with Randy Perry’s Audio check list so at worst this might not be a video but at best it is one of the last few shows Randy played.

I was surprised that the owner isn’t talking about wanting money for this, that doesn’t mean to say that it won’t be asked. What has held this particular video from breaking is a fear that it might bring litigation from the Osbourne’s, The Rhoads or any number of others who at the moment have a vested interest in controlling Randy Rhoads image and intellectual property. I am still in contact with the owner who like me is a relative technophobe!
I hope that this does help to explain the existence of even more footage; I also promise that when the time is deemed correct I will make sure it is exposed here at UR for Randy fans to enjoy should this be passed to me. I don’t want to go into this further because I am protecting my source and I know that a stampede from Randy fans might force this to go to ground and we will never see what could be one of Randy’s last public performances.

This means that we can be certain that 2 audience recorded shows from 1981and one another 1982 show are held by one group of individuals.

Dave Tangye confirmed that a whole show was pro recorded in 1981 and we can presume is in the hands of the Osbourne’s

And my contact has demonstrated that at the very least an audio (if not video) was made during one of Randys last shows.

Thanks for sharing that Ian! 8)
Sounds interesting! Did you ask if he maybe can send you some frames of it?

So we got two shows (fully/partly) filmed by those Arizona brothers, one pro-shot '81 Blizzard show according Dave Tanye and maybe another one from March '82. And probably (as we could see in that trailer) more footage from three different news shows: ET, 2 on the town, Rock Report.
Too bad the 'Church' has decided that 'nothing was filmed'....... :x

Hi Ian

I remember you saying about this! It is very exciting indeed.

Where is the humility in people expressing so adamantly, their supposed facts on RR's life; when not really knowing themselves?!
The Firebird 12 string, for me personally was one of the most exciting new facts about Randy Rhoads, to know there are more where they came from keeps the winds in the Black Pearls Sails!

As I said above, if not video this is a new audio at the very least. More important still is that this is a will be the youngest Randy show and will have been recorded about a month after El Paso! this is one of his last shows.
Being one of his last confirmed shows makes this as important as any video because of its place on the calender.

That sounds like a good idea dutch, Ian could you ask the guy to take some pics of the video from the TV or whatever. Then get him to email them to you. That will set the ball in motion, and if the guy doesn't bother then we will know that it's another chasing the tale for new footage. But it is a pain for all the red tape to be cut so this can be seen. It'll be good to even see a still from the show. Good work Ian and credit is due mate for finding this lead and chasing it up.

Trigger, if this is true, this is fantastic news. Thanks for the update. Assuming your contact is telling you the truth, has he made any effort to backup the video to a digital source? I'm currently going through some of my VHS tapes which date back to the late 80's, and many of them are in rough shape, audio and video-wise. Consumer-grade videotape has a fairly finite shelf life, and even professional-grade tape can age poorly.

Even if he doesn't wish to share the footage at this time, you might suggest he make backup copies in order to ensure that the footage survives. Old videotape is highly prone to deterioration, even under ideal storage conditions.

If, on the other hand, the footage comes from a film source (like Super 8 mm, for instance), the same suggestion would apply. Have it copied, and soon. Film often holds up better than video; but even with film there can be problems with chemical decomposition, particularly with acetate-based home movie film.

Assume I have a complete Ozzy/Randy show filmed by myself.
What could stop me from sharing/selling it if I really want to?
(and lets assume I was allowed to film it with no further conditions or whatever, they didn't care)
