You never know. Maybe the main movie will be based towards a more mainstream audience (and not the geek type RR fans on here and RRTK LMAO) and the special features will have large chunks of detailed in depth music geekary...
and yes I am a geek and want music geekery!!!!!

Oh c'mon Dottie, don't you want to hear from the guy at the local deli where Randy once bought a sandwich? Or what about the person who sold him his dog? Or the pet shop owner where he bought the dog food? What about the guy who used to sell him guitar strings back in the day? What kind of fan are you, Nicole?NicDots wrote:Pete Mertons is probably the ONLY person the documentary will interview that I'd really like to hear from.

I live in America...where Randy was born. Even in the same PART of America. I am waiting to be interviewed right now, actually.

Whenever I put on Blizzard or Diary, what a wonderful, delicate furious beast.... I MISS you, man!
Well, no, I don't think it's wrong at all. This is Peter's film for Mrs. Rhoads, and he can do whatever he wants and I'm sure all the Rhoadies will go see it. But judging by the people interviewed and the narrative that has been promoted, I don't imagine I'll check it out. I wish Peter's focus for the film was different. Randy Rhoads "the person" always stirs up controversy. I'd rather know about Randy Rhoads "the musician." Where he liked hanging out and what his favorite movies were, etc mean little to me. The people I'd like to see in the film are Pete Mertons, Rudy Sarzo, Bob Daisley, Lee Kerslake, Tommy Aldridge, Frankie Banalli...you know, the guys Randy jammed with along with his mom and brother, who played a big part in his music.
No offense to Randy's girlfriend(s) or other non musical friends, but my interest doesn't lie in Randy's off-stage activities. These stories only seem to stir up people's emotions and the whole "this is Randy's best friend" "well no, this is Randy's REAL best friend" "but Randy confided the most in this person" deal happens and the validity of things gets questioned. And all for what? People get all butt hurt. I want to know more about Randy musically...I have to say that who is best friend is is irrelevant, not unless this best friend has classical guitar sheet music he (RR) had composed.

Hi Tom, good to see you
Interesting reads, and thanks for your input too about stuff I didn't realise about the publishing.
"I'm just having a tough time with folks being members of a fan site of Randy Rhoads who plan to just shine on a movie that's being made about his life."
I would say one thing about UR- it is not a collective concsiousness like the Borg off Star Trek. We are a bunch of skalley wags who not only don't see eye to eye much, but also are either genuine friends or onscreen friends and regard each other highly.
We certainly do not hold universal views on subjects, and that is one of the great things about the site.
I say that to counter act you addressing the site as one, or even the majority of posters all have the same view.
My personal view is I didn't want James Bond to blond, but I watched Casino Royale with an open heart and walked out the cinema happy man. He is even my favourite Bond with Sean (how's that!!!!)
So I will watch the movie when it comes out too with an open heart and I am sure many fans off all RR sites will do the same. I think it is time to get this paranoia in the RR community cleared up. There may be some schemers but most of us are living life and don't give a toss about all the people spitting their dummies out LOL.
Godbless you
Matt

Understood, for sure. I am not the super fan I used to be. I know 5 years ago, I'd be peeing myself like an excited Golden Retriever at the thought of this movie.whoopiecat wrote: I'm just having a tough time with folks being members of a fan site of Randy Rhoads who plan to just shine on a movie that's being made about his life.

They big problem here is not 'sour grapes' over Peter pick tk over us, the big problem here is that we prefer to see Randy as a real person, not as a god or as the angel that his mom pretends he was.whoopiecat wrote: I'm just having a tough time with folks being members of a fan site of Randy Rhoads who plan to just shine on a movie that's being made about his life.
Delores Rhoads has done her son a great disservice by only allowing the cream of his life to be viewed. A lot of members here feel that way. We want to know who Randy really was. This documentary should help us feel that we actually knew him.
As for 'nobodies' in film, how about Zakk Wylde and Paul Gilbert? They did not know Randy at all. The last thing I want to here is Zakk saying 'it's such an honor to play those songs'. Like he did in the Japanese documentary. They are fans, and, as such, their opinions are pointless. Unless a person had actual contact over a long term, they are 'nobodies' as far as a documentary goes, in my opinion.
Randy Rhoads was a kid who played guitar. We all like at least some of his music. Learning more about him should be interesting, but far from an obsession that deserves a ritual planned out in advance.
