Wasn't this post originally about Frank? OK, so since everyone seems to agree on putting on a thicker skin, can someone now answer me what the hell "hate speech" is? Where does it apply?

Hate speech is a term for speech intended to degrade, intimidate, or incite violence or prejudicial action against a person or group of people based on their race, gender, age, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, language ability, ideology, social class, occupation, appearance (height, weight, hair color, etc.), mental capacity, and any other distinction that might be considered by some as a liability. The term covers written as well as oral communication and some forms of behaviors in a public setting. It is also sometimes called antilocution and is the first point on Allport's scale which measures prejudice in a society. Critics have claimed that the term "Hate Speech" is a modern example of Newspeak, used to silence critics of social policies that have been poorly implemented in a rush to appear politically correct[1][2][3]......bla bla bla.....

Jeez Darin, didn't you know that????

I think it slipped into here because nobody really knows the problem! perhaps if we had been let into the secret we could have demonstrated that it wasn't so bad? who knows.
All I can say 'Hand on heart' is that I saw nothing here on site that has been so different than at any other time in UR's noble independant and free-speaking history. Even the faith thread seemed to question and re-question the usual and expected theories. However many times these principles are scrutanised does not really demonstate that unpleasentness was meant.

Bloody hell! I am an anti-zionist (hate the racist actions of Israel) can you imagine how tough that little baby is in a debate  :) However I don't take attacks on me to heart, its just the cut and thrust of politicing and I always remain open to other oppinions, I even maintain close friendships with Israeli's who carried out things I find sick and cruel. We have to remain detached enough to shield ourselves from the things we know will sting.
As far as I am concerned this is just a lesson of life, life slaps you sometimes and embraces you at others.

oh come on now. lighten up a little bit. a little humor never hurt anyone. this shit just isn't THAT crucial. Once you log out you go right back to your mortgage payment, and your outrageous car note, and your credit cards with way too high interest rates, and your kids who think money grows on trees, and your shitty job, and mountains of laundry to do, and at any given moment your mother could call and tell you she has cancer, or a cop could knock on your door and tell you that your kid, who just got their driver's license, has been in a terrible accident and suddenly just when you thought your biggest decision of the day was going to be whether to make grape or strawberry kool aid, it changes to whether you should pull the plug or not. now THAT shit is crucial. someone disagreeing with you on an internet forum? notsomuch. sorry.

I was only to trying to lighten the mood Sarab. I actually use this forum and tk as a escape from reality I take nothing on the internet overly seriously and assumed most other posters here did to, I meant nothing by it.
