hi, does anyone here know what pickups randy used and why? i love his tone, im sure they would cost like 500 but are there any pickups that sound like his? i dont want actives or single coils, and i mean the pickups on either his les paul, white v, or polka. thnx

as far as I know ... stock Gibsons (T-tops) in the LesPaul ... DiMarzio Super Distortion and PAF in the V and
Seymour Duncan Distortion and Jazz in the Jackson. These, and the ones he used, are all standard production
units and can be bought pretty cheap if you search the web :)

are they any good? what would be the best choice for playing rock, hard rock, and ozy type metal, i dont like anything heavier than ozzy. play lots of ozzy tho, so use lots of distortion.

well, I guess the Super Distortion is pretty solid in a rock-context,
but really, you should look around a bit and check for soundclips at
the manufacturers websites and so on. Your amp has the biggest saying though. :)
