Blizzard recording times - dates ?

Post by GUITARIDOL5682 »

I was browsing through the linear notes in the Blizzard CD and it says."Recorded March 22 - April 19,1980 Mixed May 5 - 20,1980.I was led to believe that the recordings for this album started in December 1979 ?.I think frank's postcard from Randy was posted in December '79 and mentions that the recordings had started then ?..

Excellent time capsule from Randy himself... the record was half-written by Dec. 1979...

Thanks, again, for sharing that postcard, Frank.

And considering that we know that QR recorded video boots in 79 a few months before, Randy did well to get the job, move to the UK, start writing the album, and go back to Cali' for a short break. I think he worked hard and had an exciting 1979! 8) then consider the time he took writing the next half of the album auditioning drummers and rehersing the band and recording the album.

It was hectic and an amazing achievment.

Its the first time i have noticed the similaritys in these 2 signatures..He wrote his signature in so many different styles ..A little of topic but never mind.It would be interesting to know if they actually started recording before the song writing was complete. As we know alot of bands do write and record in the studio ? Or they may have held back until a definate drummer was selected ?

I would guess that they did start recording in 1979 but that was probably just demos and stuff. Then I would guess that they started the actuall BOO recordings on those dates listed all the way at the top. (?)
