"You however, "High Priestess" talked down to all the guitar players here. To that I took offense."
examples?
Dude... i seriously question whether you are an actual human being. I truly think you're some kind of message board "bot." --- or internet android of some sort.
*somebody* needs to be "off to see the wizard" if you ask me.

yes ma'am. i agree. kids today and guitar hero. THAT IS WHYYYYYYYYY i think it's so important to encourage and support the young guitar players out there today. Yeah they are influenced by EVERYONE in the 80's... DUHHHHHH. but to sit and compare a guitar player of today to "well, you know, he's not so special vinnie vincent already did that" (i wish you could have heard my sarcastic tone of voice... lol) is retarded at best. YES YES, every guitar player of the 80's already did everything. So what?!?!? keep it ALIVE i say.NicDots wrote:I hope we can all agree to disagree. No need to throw sand in each other's vaginas over something this silly.
I've never heard of Vinnie Vincent, but he's certainly got more money than me. As does Alexi! As do all the professional guitar players, including the ones I think are lame, do.
I can appreciate that they learn the instrument...seeing as lots of dumb kids would rather just learn Guitar Hero.
Anyway, let's all be friends.
and who really care what someones "look" is, right? you're a good guitar player but i don't like the way you look?!?!? LOL - oops, didn't mean to interrupt the "tech talk" there.

i stand by my initial statement that i think ALLLLLL musicians have something to offer. Every last one of them... i see no reason to pick any musician down to the bone... down to HIS CLOTHES.
rice-pudding - you are a smart, smart person. your post was probably the most well-thought out post i've read in this entire thread (and that includes my own).

You know what, I would be "off to see the wizard" if the Wiz, AKA Vinnie Vincent wasn't such a fucking hermit in connecticut or tennessee or wherever that agoraphobic bastard is living at.highpriestess wrote:*somebody* needs to be "off to see the wizard" if you ask me.

The point about Vinnie was that certain people completely steal his licks from Metal Tech and claim them as his own, such as the dual handed slide, which Dimebag takes note for note on the song Walk.highpriestess wrote:yes ma'am. i agree. kids today and guitar hero. Also, what are you talking about? You're the one that wants to pick Alexi down to his bone.

There.. now that it's official, do you feel better?

However, I say we agree to disagree. Miss Priestess, you like kids who play guitar and dress poorly, I can accept that, to each his (or her) own.
and you like... well... yourself. i don't know how you dress; however, based on the statement prior, you're probably right, we'll just have to agree to disagree. *shrugs*
my ex-husband called me "match" a time or two.... or ten....

You do realize that Darrell is dead right? To sum it up so I don't get bashed... John5, Darrell, Zakk, and Alexi especially need to give accolades where they are deserved, and secondly, his only good solo is from Deadnight Warrior. Personally, I'll stick with the guy who was originally given the honor to keep the Randy Rhoads tradition going. Lastly, despite all my bad words for Alexi (like he's a complete ripoff of Vincent, Malmsteen, and Paul Gilbert), his music is still decent to listen to (just not his 'solos').
I don't see how a dead man gives accolades.
Anywho, Alexi is one of the best guitarists in this day and age of horrible music and I think he deserves the recognition he gets for it.
there was a videoclip on the ESP site some time
ago where mr George Lynch stated that Alexi Laiho
was the next Randy Rhoads
