At the end of the day, it's Jimmy Barnes and Steve Morse versus Ozzy and Randy for me. They really murdered the song, it doesn't matter if Bob and Lee are playing as well. Sure, they're interpretations, but they're crappy ones. That band's original stuff was light years better than the Blizzard covers. I don't know why they didn't just do all originals rather than destroy Blizzard songs.
Well I can see your point, but I wouldn't say they destroyed those songs. Lee and Bob did Living Loud, I think, to say "Hey we were the blokes that played and wrote those songs with Randy and Ozzy! Taking us out of the mix really fucks things up! Well here is our versions of these songs, with heart and soul still intact." Steve Morse is probably one of the best guitar players ever born and his style has absolutely nothing in common with Randy's except for maybe alternate picking, but that aside, and this is the reason I think Steve was chosen as the guitar player for Living Loud. So the songs could be completely re-done, played with heart and laid to album that way. Why do a clone of the originals? There was only one Randy version of them and that is the way it should have stayed. I personally think Steve kicked total ass with Lee, Bob, Jimmy and Don and for a man whose playing style NEVER uses hammer-on or legato phrasing, to tackle some of Randy's material (which is chock full of legato licks) makes great listening, if one doesn't look at the Living Loud stuff as a challenger to BOO or DOAM but as a compliment of the originals.

I can agree with and appreciate what you're saying, for sure, but those covers suck just the same to me. The motive behind recording those songs make sense and I doubt there's a single person who takes Ozzy/Randy seriously who DOESN"T know that Bob and Lee were the original guys on those records. And I don't think for those who don't take Ozzy/Randy seriously will be converted by these covers anyway. I just wish Bob and Lee could use their songwriting skills that were so evident in 1980 to create some more kick ass songs rather than doing bad rehashed versions of the Blizzard songs. It's laziness in my opinion.
And while the new remasters aren't at all close to the originals naturally, I would much rather listen to them than the Living Loud nonsense, on purely musical terms, not taking into account motives for the re-recorded versions of the songs.

Personally I'd like to see Bob and Lee move forward and leave 1980 in the past. They are capable of so much, replaying old Ozzy songs out of spite and anger is ridiculous to me.
At the same time, I'd like to see Ozzy grow a pair and pay them the money they are owed for the work they performed. How many years was it between Tony booting Ozzy out of Sabbath and them kissing and making up? It should soon be time for Ozzy to grow up and become a responsible adult, fire Sharon and deal with Bob and Lee like a man.
It's time the cover versions of those great songs disappear for good and the originals are returned to the pedestal they belong on.
