I was talking to a fellow collector of Rock memorabilia over the Christmas season and as we chatted i got talking about my love for Randy Rhoads Ozzy era etc.He then mentions that he has a guitar pick from RR from the Taunton Odeon gig.So i was well impressed and he went on about how he came about this item. His dad was a good friend of Dave Tangye who was Ozzy's friend, roadie during the Black Sabbath days.He then went onto being his personnel assistent.I've read about this guy so i knew what he was on about.Well his dad got a job working for various bands doing the stage load in etc and then he moved down to the Taunton area.He then got a job working at the Odeon full time as a caretaker/carpenter.When demand met he would help out doing the load in etc. This is the pass he got during the gig and he sent me these pics to show the forum.COOL stuff if i must say so myself...Happy New year everyone and sorry if i haven't been in touch but ive been very busy over the Christmas etc...So a big Hello To Gina Frank Ian Joe and everyone else at UR..
Good to see. It just goes to show that there is still plenty rare Randy memorabillia that keeps popping up every now and then.
Did you make him an offer Shaun or isn't he interested in selling.
Hello Mate how are you i hope you didn't get to pi$$ed over the Christmas/New Year...Well i would of but i know he'd be wanting a kings ransome for it..I'd be happy just with the pass i've only ever seen one similar before at the Glasgow Apollo forum see pic below
He did use mediums and has mentioned it in several interviews. I was surprised too. It seems that he would use an extra heavy or at least a heavy. Perhaps that is one more key to unlocking the secret of his magic...
Or not. He was just too good for his own good.

Just kidding...
Paul i know your just kidding but seriously this does just look like an everyday Fender MEDIUM pick which i could of bought in the guitar shop this morning.Well on closer inspection you can actually put a date on this to being a pre 1980 pick. The Fender logo was never a registered logo until after 1980.All the picks made after then had the small R in a circle and all the picks made up to present date have that R on them.Alot of people mention that Randy used Heavy picks and others say that it's never been mentioned. In the US Diary of a Madman tour programme they have a list of all the band members equipment and Randy's gear mentions picks as Fender Mediums 0.71mm.

What I like about this pass is that it ties in so well with the audio show we have. It allows a visual conection to the Taunton boot, Does this guy have any other stuff Shaun?

Go for it Randy, unless Shaun thinks we shouldn't?
