My review on Trigger's picture (picture to come soon..)

Post by siro_angel »

After a long wait, I have recieved Trigger's beautiful picture of Randy Rhoads himself..

I keep looking at the picture and thinking.. how the heck he did it, I'm not good at painting portraits, im more the abstract painter but i do appriciate portraits.. especially as good as Trigger gives in the picture, it is a sad fact that Trigger said to me that it would be the last Randy picture he would do, I am honoured to have the final one.

It hasn't been put up on the wall simply because i havent had the time to, but needless to say noticing the business card at the back made me smile.

It is a delightful picture and will have a pride place in my room :)

This concludes my review on Trigger's painting.. photo will follow once i have it up on my wall. But it is the one in the Art Section of the boards.

Thank you Trigger! Domi Arigato Mr Raven..

Simon

mY review is coming right back, :D the card is something I add to all pictures that go to people I have not met in the flesh. The portrait I did on belhalf of UR that was presented to the Rhoads family by Frank, that also had the card included. When we are no longer here all the information that we leave with our art will give somebody a chance to learn something about the person and the time the work was created. :)

I received Simon's Randy painting a few months ago and since it arrived it has hung on the wall behind my sofa. My first opinion on the portrait was that it was bright and vibrant and displayed all the qualities that always lack in my own work. I can only work in a photographic manner and Simon's work has interpretation and life of its own. Simon took the life and work of Randy and created a portrait of Randy that showed the rounded person/influence and not just the image we all see when we think of Randy the man.

The portrait is of an acoustic guitar that has roots spreading from the neck that represent Randys continued inspiration to new musicians and lovers of music. Since I hung this beautiful piece of work many people have commented on how wonderful the colour and Simon's intentions are within the work. I realize that if I live 20 lifetimes as the person I am today I will never be able to make visual art that comes from my heart like the pictures Simon has created.

I was pleased that you and your Mother enjoyed the portrait I sent you, I had to alter it to create the final image and due to the fact that it was from a photograph taken 25 years ago I don't suppose it was too bad. I strive for very pure sources for my work and the images I use today are from high resolution photographs. I have done 2 portraits of Randy in the past 2 years, one of which was presented to the Rhoads family by Frank on behalf of all of us here at UR. The picture Simon has was the picture I did as a practice for the presentation piece. I hope that you will get as much satisfaction from that portrait as I and many others have from your wonderful painting Simon.

I don't think I will be able to consider another Randy Rhoads portrait because I don't feel I can really do Randy the justice he deserves, so Simon's portrait and the portrait now owned by the Rhoads family are 'one of a kind's' although both were done with all the respect and love I have built for Randy over the past 27 years, since I first heard him play.
