So yeah.. I sat down.. picked up my Hondo II (contains song)

Post by siro_angel »

Started to mess around playing everything and with a few accoustic medleys ive been messing around with since granddad was in hospital, but i found myself getting heavier in sound (adding the distortion) when i heard he has cancer.. i thought i best record what i have and put them away for now, but then i stitched the medleys on the computer to fit and thought.. i need a solo.. a need a guitar solo.. and me as i can tell ya, i am pathetic at writing solos, so with this idea looming i need something good to fill the gap.. so i messed around with a few chords and placed them in and i thought what could i do, its too fast.. and then dad started nagging to go on the computer, he needed his work done which was fair enough but i wanted this solo nailed, he told me

"Simon.. you have half an hour.. then you have to come off"

which was just aswell.. because in half an hour i had to go to the theatre and continue stage work from tuesday, so with the half an hour closing, and dad's time nearly coming, i was getting annoyed that i had a mental block then i heard dad shout from downstairs.

"SIMON ITS TIME TO GET OFF"

Frustrated at myself, i felt let down but needless to say i replied to dad saying,

"Give me five minutes"

Dad grunted and went back to the living room, with me still frustrated and angry i set my computer to record and i just went for it, recorded in sections i just flipped out and went ape**** on my guitar didnt care if i did it wrong or whatever, I just wanted to let out my frustration, and that was how my heaviest guitar solo was made, the tapping melody that closed the solo was an after thought, i thought the solo ended too sharp and needed something to break off gently.

So when i finally put everything together, this is what was produced and for once I am happy with my playing in this, it shows how much a little push can really get some furious action from your finger tips.

If you say this is a rubbish song, then so be it.. lmao i dont care, I'm proud of it.

It does need drums, bass and lyrics however.. lol.. that will come one day..

Simon

P.S My tuning is Eb, just so ya know lol.. oh and btw, if you remember my old putfile account siroangel, and thinking why have i got a new one, its because i cant remember my old password and i have deleted my old email account which the password was saved on.

i think that the first heavy part maybe come in a little too strong compared with the rest of the song, maybe you could lay off the distortion a bit or try a different distortion.

sounds like you used reverb on the clean parts? maybe add some reverb to the distorted parts.

apart from that maybe add a clean rhythm guitar or something would help on the heavy parts. to fill it out more

hope that makes sense :? there just seems to be a strong contrast between the clean and distorted stuff. the clean parts have more depth IMO. Maybe the distorted stuff just needs bass and drums...

do you have lyrics for this song?

Yeah i know the first one came too heavy.. but at the time i was just like neh and grrr lol so thats why (hence you can hear me hitting the strings pretty harsh)

I have tried different distortions but unless i get a new pedal it gets really muddy and horrible.

i used a slight delay but again this is seperated from the distortion and i cant programme my effects pedal >_< i tried and ended up loosing loads of valuable effects (even my wah pedal.. i cant programme it :( )

I did try doing a clean guitar but i have trouble with timing lol and the timing on that song is tricky xD

It makes perfect sense.. dont worry about it, i appriciate everything people tell me then i know for the future.. ya know?

Thanks again, and next time i work on it ill take it on board, just right now its awkward to fix lol espcially with a computer that hates change -_-

That's pretty cool. I quite like the clean parts! But I think you need more bite on the distorted sounds, they sound to mush and loose. IMO.
It's a bit rough, sure, but I'm positive you'll smoothen it out with time! 8)

Great job, Simon! :D

EDIT: Lol, edited wrong post
