Dog the Bounty Hunter

Post by zmack mylde »

What he said was messed up....but what is even more messed up is that it was a PRIVATE conversation, is that right what they are doing to him?. Big Brother is watching. Your opinion on Dog please.

Not so much big brother, but I think his son sold him out and released the tape to tabloids. I can understand his son being mad and all, but to potentially ruin your father's career? Seems a tad extreme.

What happened then? here in Britain Dog is only on small cable channels so its not really a big thing. Other than that all I know about Dog is that Ozzy wrote the opening tune! :D

His son sold himout for $15000......Does that make it right?

Yes it was a private conversation but it was still a racial slur....Once you're in the public eye you have to watch your every move...The poperazzi(sp?)is always out to get you.....It's how they make their $$$....

I watched his interview on Larry King the other night....He ahd mentioned he thought he was cool enough with the black community to use that word....What a cop out....He was blatenly racist when he said it....He called a N***** 6 times or so....

I honestly always liked him and enjoyed his show from time to time but he got busted and he's trying to cover his tracks.....I say too bad to him.....

I thought (and I have never seen the show) that Dog was a born again Christian? I don't see anything Christian in being a bigot.

He wasn't being a bigot. He was using the term the same way someone like Ice-T or NWA (Niggas With Attitude) would use it (see lyrics here), according to the apology he made on television.

In this Internet age, it is a simple matter to research a topic before commenting. No offense intended, Trigger, I just wanted to point out that even the most devoutly religious people can have weak moments in private.

In my opinion, the son was a punk for airing the dirty laundry in public. A real man would simply go ahead and marry the woman he loves, regardless of what his dad thinks of her. A punk on the other hand would try to publicly humiliate someone, which is exactly what he did.

Gotta agree with Paul here. It's not a polite term to use by any means, but I don't see how people can scream and call him a racist when other people, the very people it offends most of all, use it.

i've been reading a bit about this.

it seems dog was very angry during the phone call, when you get mad you do silly things and say what you can to try and hurt people as much as possible.

racial insults are never acceptable but in this kind of situation his actions are forgiveable

of course if he was using the term as paul has suggested then its a different situation all together and the implications of his use of the word would depend upon your view of what it means in the modern world.

Something occurred to me... have you ever been driving and had another driver do something to piss you off? Did you respond by yelling some sort of profanity in the privacy of your own vehicle as a way of expressing your frustration? Would you react the same way in a face to face situation with anyone?

It's the same sort of thing with Dog... private moments are just that, private and should not be open to the scrutiny of the world.

Everyone makes mistakes, and going back to the comment about Dog being a Christian, Jesus said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." (John 8:7)

Well I'm not too sure who's from the states(Bible Belt) but Christianity and Racism go hand and hand.....I know anyone from the Carolina's/Georgia etc know all about it....

Did Dog make a mistake? Yes.....Is he racist? Hard to say.....From his phone call he sounded like it....Sure you get mad but I would never call someone a N*****....A "F*cking Asshole" or a Stupid C*nt* sure....I've said lotsa things over the years I probably never meant....Whether the person is Black/green/brown/white....An asshole is an asshole....A White person using N***** is classless....

I honestly think he would use the word today if he hadn't been busted...

You CANNOT compare NWA to the Dog....THEY ARE BLACK....They are allowed to call each other that....Do I understand why? No, but they do and have no problem with it....A white person doesn't have the right.......

That's part of becoming a public figure, you have to watch your every move...

As long as that mentality is around, there will be a racism issue (Not your mentality DayNah, but rather the mentality regarding the approach to racism). When I hear people talk about the "black community", all I can think is that they are separating "black people" from everyone else - regardless as to whether it is a black, white or Asian making the comment.

If blacks can use the "N" word and white cannot, then they are further perpetuating the race issue. Anything that is good for one person should be good for all people - it's called equality.

As for living in the "Bible Belt" and saying that "Christianity and Racism go hand in hand", that is ludicrous. That's like saying that Islam and terrorism go hand in hand. It just is not true. Christianity began in the middle east, not in the American southeast. A number of mentally incompetent people have twisted Christianity to mean what they want it to mean and use that to further racist beliefs. Louis Farrakhan is doing the same thing with the Nation of Islam - only from the other end of the issue.

Duane "Dog" Chapman made a mistake in a private moment. "Public personality" or not, it's wrong to attack him for one moment of weakness. We have all made mistakes and should forgive others in the same manner that we'd like others to forgive us.
