I was absolutely amazed at the quality and when Randy's solos kick in and the volume pedal got hit. Shit it was like being at a live show, with the headphones on Rockin out in my bedroom. That statement cannot be too far from the truth, if 'After Hours' was still underground or in a vault. It would be the perfect prize thank God we've got it. What i've noticed, we are never happy and are always wanting more footage and live material. If i heard a soundboard live show from 1980 i'd be content, and knowing one is out there makes it a bigger shit sandwhich to taste.
Exactly, well said Shaun. I think the hardest pill for most of us to swallow is the fact that we know what exists. We know Bob has rehearsals with the Blizzard of Ozz band, we know there is Phoenix footage, we know the O's have at least 1 UK 1980 Soundboard show and we know there is more footage from E.T when they filmed them. It's different when we're possibly chasing smoke assuming some kind of pro-shot footage exists because 'apparently they filmed every show' or something like that, but it's the stuff we know exists which for a lot of us is the most difficult to accept.
I for one am very satisfied with what is freely available out there. We do have some pro-shot of Randy with QR, we have Master quality footage of AH, we have about 50 or so bootlegs from the start of the 1980 UK tour right through to 2nd leg of the Diary tour and we also have recordings of Randy both giving lessons and even a seminar he gave where he breaks down songs including the entire Diary of a Madman song, we even have Audience shot footage of Randy (as poor quality as they may be).
This is coming from someone however who only discovered Randy's music less than a decade ago, maybe ask me in 30 years what I think....
