Nairobi Westgate Tragedy
I'm sitting in the comfort of my living room, listening to Jefferson Starship, drinking coffee and feeling guilty for the trivial complaints I so often have about my life.
Sure we are struggling financially and I am dealing with a level of disability which sucks. However, we do manage to make the rent, we have food in the cupboards and we are alive & well.
Look at this little girl who went to the mall and had to face gunfire. Many people went in to shop and didn't come back. My complaints pale in comparison to the troubles these people are facing.
I need to focus on the good I've been blessed with and let go of the trivial negatives.

All over religion and being non Muslim i would publicly hang everyone of these fundamentalist mad for religion and killing innocent people. Don't worry they can read the Koran as loudly as they like while they get a well stretched neck. Yeah its a shitty world when you cannot go shopping in the mall and this shit storm lands on top. Send the SAS in and get the job done quick they have hostages and the Nairobi police and army don't look to be handling the situation very well. The quicker they storm the mall the better, more innocent people will be killed the longer they are hoping this will end peacefully. I cannot see a good end to this one and the final figure of the dead will only rise.

Re: Nairobi Westgate Tragedy
It's also sad to me just how much macho posturing has to take place. The government claims they have control while the terrorists claim they have control. Neither side is willing to admit weakness. It's all about who can kick who's ass rather than taking care of the innocent. And who gives a fuck if American's were involved?Despite the assurances from Kenya’s government that the operation has been a success, another explosion and more gunfire could be heard coming from the mall at around 6:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday, Associated Press reporters at the scene said. More shots were heard about noontime, followed by two explosions a short time later, and a plane and helicopter circled over the mall.
Kenyan officials say three soldiers have died and eight others were injured on Tuesday.
The building remained on fire, as flames and smoke were visible.
Westgate mall, a vast complex with multiple banks that have secure vaults and bulletproof glass partitions, as well as a casino, is difficult to take, a Western security official – who declined to be named – told The Associated Press. "They are not made for storming," he said of the labyrinth of shops, restaurants and offices. "They're made to be unstormable."
The military has claimed final sweep of the building repeatedly. I hate that the media feel the need to provide minute by minute updates and show "exclusive" video so they can claim higher ratings.
Do what is necessary to save the innocent! How fucking difficult is it to do the right thing for the right reasons?

Re: Nairobi Westgate Tragedy
To me it sounds like macho posturing from a President who apparently has lost touch with reality a bit. Sixty-one civilians dead is hardly the result of the 'cowards' being 'shamed'. Bragging that "five terrorists were killed with gunfire"? It sounds like he was playing a video game.Claiming to have “ashamed and defeated our attackers,” President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya on Tuesday declared victory over the Islamists militants who stormed into a crowded Nairobi shopping mall and killed dozens of civilians.
In a national address, Mr. Kenyatta declared three days of mourning, saying that 61 civilians and six members of Kenya’s security forces had died in the effort to retake the mall. He added that “five terrorists were killed with gunfire” and that 11 suspects were in custody.
“These cowards will meet justice, as will their accomplices and patrons wherever they are,” he said. “Kenya endured. Kenya endures.”
For days, the Kenyan government has been saying that the mall was under their control, only for fighting to resume shortly thereafter.
Seems to me that the definition of a "terrorist" is someone who instills fear and terror in others. They reduce the society in which they operate into a state of panic and fear where normal daily life ceases. I'd say these terrorists were successful in that endeavor. The terrorists also let it be known that his was a test run for a bigger event, if four days and sixty-one deaths is a test run, imagine the 'bigger' event.
No, Mr. Kenyatta, I don't think you 'shamed' anyone but yourself with poorly chosen words.

Re: Nairobi Westgate Tragedy
A phenomenally courageous act. If one SAS guy can do that, why did it take the Kenyans four days? And then to brag about shaming people...GUITARIDOL5682 wrote:Paul i mentioned sending the SAS in and this guy was in the right place at the right time. Kenya mall attacker reportedly apologized to, freed British boy, 4, who called him "a very bad man"
Some amazing stories from that terrible situations..."The terrorists said if any kids were alive in the supermarket they could leave. Amber made a decision to stand up and say, 'Yes'. Then Elliott argued with them and called them bad men. He was very brave,"
Re: Nairobi Westgate Tragedy
one mans terrorist is another mans freedonm fighter...the West has been the recipient of a microscopic amount of terrorism vs the amount we inflict daily in the middle east whether it be drones, invasions or support of puppet dictatorships. Our mideast policy over the last 40years is fucking disgusting and self destructive in the end.
War and oppression are very profitable for boeing,ge,haliburton etc. These scumbag companies suck more taxpayer dollars in 1 year than people on food stamps in 10 years.Dropping food instead of bombs would have brought much better results in the mideast-can you seriously doubt that?Weve achieved nothing there in the last 10yrs except ripoff the usa taxpayer so wall st and contractors could make fat bucks.
Some people really need to re-visit the concept of love and compassion, especially the religious schmucksthat are always screaming for blood(christians, jews, muslims).

Re: Nairobi Westgate Tragedy
This was not about religion , no religion teaches the destruction of another. This was about a modern form of fascism that attaches itself to a religion and suggests that it is acting for it. The people who act this way are the victims of a few egotistical thugs who pray on the vulnerable to help them achieve notoriety and fear.
Cologne she'll wear silver and americard, She'll drive a beetle car and beat you down at cool Canasta. And when the clothes are strewn don't be afraid of the room touch the fullness of her breast feel the love of her caress she will be your living end.

Well ask the same question to everyones families who've been killed in the Nairobi mall, 9/11 ,7/7 etc i bet they don't see it as an act of terrorism only. Egotistical thugs with bombs strapped to them, who don't die for any other reason then to go to a better place... 'Hell' hopefully that's all they deserve.

Re: Nairobi Westgate Tragedy
I think very few people will blow themselves up anyways if they have a good life already. (still there are though) It's all about young desperate people looking for an ideal to live for. Most people need one. And then some young people with no future perspective choose for the Jihad, at least they did something 'right' then in their lifes.... So that kind of terrorism has not really much to do with religion but more to do with rich vs poor, taking advantage of confused, desperated people by evil powers who are using 'religion' as a tool to justify their actions.
You probably right!oth wrote:Dropping food instead of bombs would have brought much better results in the mideast
The winner of the rat race is still a rat.

Yes,ike Syria,Egypt,Saudi Arabia,Iraq, all oppressive countries controlled by obscenely wealthy and corrupt families who only maintain power thanks to the support of Western govt's.The Flying Dutchman wrote:So that kind of terrorism has not really much to do with religion but more to do with rich vs poor, taking advantage of confused, desperated people by evil powers who are using 'religion' as a tool to justify their actions. You probably right!oth wrote:Dropping food instead of bombs would have brought much better results in the mideast
All bombs and guns are weapons of mass destruction.Last week here,we had another rampage that killed 12 by a mentally disturbed person. It would be nice if we could advance beyond killing.Personally,i do not see a difference between strap-on bombs, assault rifles or cruise missiles, they are all emblematic of a pathetic social status.
