Re: the frist flyod prototype
Personally I think they should of kept this design it worked with no locking nut
They could of had it in a limited edition run
If I ever got the chance I would buy 1 and take it apart
Why because if I could take it apart and find out how it's made I could probly have someone make parts for my own prototype
BUT I don't think that's happening soon
LOOK At brad gillis he still uses this model on his red strat
And it still stays in tune even after 30 years

Re: the frist flyod prototype
Hey RWND, have you ever seen this video? The Floyd Rose isn't necessary if you put in the time to set up a standard trem. However if you want to have a floating trem, a Floyd is a better bet. I personally hate floating trems, so this works for me. He's got a couple videos that go into detail on the hows and whys of Strat trem setup.
Re: the frist flyod prototype
that trem will stay in tune no better than a vtrem....it works in exactly the same way. As paul said set up right a vtrem will stay in tune, I have both floyds and Vtrems and they are pretty much the same when it comes to holding tune...I will say the floyd does feel a bit smoother in use than the vtrem...but the prototype one feel pretty much the same as a vtremrandy will never die wrote:Personally I think they should of kept this design it worked with no locking nut

If you got a prototype, why take it apart when you have an already functioning system?randy will never die wrote:If I ever got the chance I would buy 1 and take it apart

Re: the frist flyod prototype
dude its exactly the same as a Vtrem just with saddles that lock the strings in....not much science to figure out by taking it apartrandy will never die wrote:If I ever got the chance I would buy 1 and take it apart

But here's the big question why does Floyd not make these any more I know they are a prototype but they work and to me they look better than what Floyd makes now

you have the answer there, it's a prototyperandy will never die wrote:But here's the big question why does Floyd not make these any more I know they are a prototype but they work and to me they look better than what Floyd makes now
and prototypes are really just a first draft of a product bound to have some improvements
