i miss Darrell. He used to live right down the street from me. Partied with him many, many nights at Pumpjack shows, or at the Tattoo Bar... or any number of places all over town. He was the coolest cat i ever knew. I am so not kidding. Miss seeing him around all the time. Miss his face, ya know?

Do you happen to know if he had any cousin's his age named Ted? I've read that Dime was born in either Arlington or Dallas, Texas. I had a friend growing up in Arlington named Ted Abbott, and I recently have wondered if they were related.

Darrell had a cousin that would come out with him to some clubs, but the guy was way younger than Darrell and Vinnie. They also hae two girl cousins that are in a band from abilene, texas... i'll have to look into it to find out what the name of the band is i cant remember, but they played the very first "Dimefest" here in fort worth at the ridglea theatre. Dime and vinnie were born in a hospital in dallas, but their house was here in arlington on Monterey Dr. they lived and grew up here in arlington. if you have a myspace page, you can add me and i have a photo album in my pics called "dimebag" that has a bunch of pics of darrell that i took, including the pics from the dallas stars stanley cup parade that pantera had a float in. good stuff.

Ya know... darrell was a HUGE randy fan... i actually had entire conversations with him about randy.

Thanks for the info.

I lived in Arlington back in the '70's. Went to Butler Elementary and lived a few blocks from Lamar High School. We moved up to Seattle in '78, so my musically formative years featured a lot of music that was a far cry from Pantera (the boys in Queensryche went to my high school - graduating the year I got there in '81)...
