The real take-away here is that Ed is a bitter, bitter man, though.

I like this one - he had to teach Michael Anthony how to play all of the songs prior to going on tour... He'd probably claim to have taught Alex all of the drum parts, too, but then Alex would kick his ass.

It's sad that Ed is so worried about becoming irrelevant that he's destroying any positive legacy he had left by talking.

Amen to this. The more he talks, the more he decimates any good will he had left with, well, anyone.

Never met the guy, obviously, but I know the type; can't take accountability for their own actions, and they're certain their perspective is the only relevant or right one.

I see in my Facebook feed that Sammy Hagar had a rebuttal for this, and really lets Ed have it. He calls him and liar and calls bullshit on him having to teach Michael Anthony all the parts to play. I'm not much of a Hagar fan, but he's completely right in his appraisal of the situation. It's worth the watch, as it's only a couple minutes.

This has been cracks me up. Trust me, not only did he listen to Randys work with Ozzy, you just know he tried playing all of Randys solo's, and i do mean tried. We all eventually become irrelevant Ed, get over yourself. Always got a kick when he whined about people "copying him" blah blah..this from a guy whos band did cover song after cover song. Yea. hes a real songwriter all right. just other peoples songs. Ted Templeman was the real star of that first record , after that it was all just kinda so so, and none of it aged well at all. Get ready to start playiing Vegas casinos Ed, Dave etc. Thats where they all end up. Rhoads was 20 times the musician this guy ever was, and he knows it.

Gotta disagree... Ed may be an asshole, but the music was great, the playing was great and the songs hold up great. I would doubt he ever tried to play any of Randy's stuff. Aware of it, yes, trying to play it, or even caring about it would be doubtful. At most I'd say he would have been impressed (as was everyone else) at the change from Quiet Riot to Ozzy. He'll never admit it, though.

I'd like to read the entire Billboard article to find out all of what was said rather than just bits and pieces pulled out for shock value.
