Using copyrighted music

Post by rice_pudding »

I recently cut together a showreel of my recent film work for promotional purposes. During the edit i used a copyrighted track for pacing. I would like to keep the track as it works very well at adding emotional emphasis.

I would compose something myself but frankly, haven't got the time.

If i want to keep the track what would the procedure be? Should i write to the record company or artists management? Also, any idea what it would cost to gain the legal right to use such music?

cheers,

Rob
