Just a bit twisted there, Simon.

Interesting and well done for the amount of time and energy you put into it.

I suppose so Paul. I'm guessing it's about Werewolves maybe? Or are those the eyes of UR's hacker? :D

Intriguing little film!

I like the basic premise and i like the lack of an obvious ending. I think it is genuinely difficult to create a such a short film that doesnt lose its interest after one viewing or slip into obviousness and pretension. I have seen many short films under two or three minutes, many only 15 seconds long! Half of them are pure crap and the rest often rely on some kind punchline or reversal of expectations which i think limits any film to being no more than a one trick pony. Or an advert! :P

It would have been nice to see a greater variety of shots perhaps, and im not sure the first two cut together well.

But overal an interesting piece and further proof that the Xm2 is a great camera. Off the cuff films are often the most fun to make, you've made me hungry for filmmaking 8)

LOL i hate being drawn to a definite conclusion. A film is only ever the sum total of the opinions it generates.

Assuming there isnt any special symbolism i've missed i will offer an attempt at analysis!
Based on the song i would assume that there is an obvious irony at play, in that the character (ie. you! you cheeky monkey) has either killed a loved one or himself. The images in the TV for me could be inffered as some kind of flashforward or flashback, eg. he buries the body or commits the murder out in the barren countryside. I think there is clear scope for a great deal of temporal discretion to be read into the film. This simple analysis is however based soley on the use of the beatles song. :P :P

Alternatively i would consider it a disection of altered mental states, as a character sits, traumatised, between passivity and aggression, reality and the surreal, in which case the images in the tv could present mental conflict while the character himself may take a metaphysical role and not actualy exist??? the interaction between media and the human psyche also rings strongly for me. So perhaps the film reflects the dangerous consequences of subjecting ourselves to such a barrage of emotional expierience.

What a fucktard i am writing so much. Simon, the fact that your film has provoked such an abundant rush of (genuine) ideas is proof, to me at least, that it is a worth much more than two hours of work would suggest.

Thank you so much for such positive words Rob. Would it be okay to save these for a reference to put in a folder?

Of course, no worries!

On reflection i think my second analysis is more apt in regards to what you are doing. Of course, whatever your intentions were i have no idea :)

Have you ever considered (or heard of) joining shooting people? www.shootingpeople.org

Its a great site for independent filmmaking, a place to advertise events, screenings, look for jobs on sets etc. and of course you can upload work. Its a bit like an online cv. It has a £30 subscription fee for the year but i think its worth it. In itself it may not be much but its a great first step and a way to keep your toes in the water even if you're not fully submerged.
