I've been a member of a great little site called shooting people for a while now, its a resource for independant film-makers, nothing to do with
shooting people
Anyhow i recently uploaded a short that i made as part of my final year dissertation at University. The film finnished 6th out of 200+ entries in the film of the month contest for May. I intend to showboat it round some festivals over the next year, but i wanted to post it up here as well.

You dont need to be a member to watch films on the site. Im always interested to hear what people have to say, positive or negative.

I loved the first one Rob, i just feel humbled by humbled when I see real art taken from the mind and turned into a real creation.
I haven't finished viewing the second one yet but loved the voices and statements, I didn't finish it because I got called away but will finish watching it later.

Thanks Ian
Both films were a labour of love, they were made the way i like to work, that being as quickly as possible, both were an expierience. I think they probably represent my best work. Often things dont go well on a film, as they did on a project i recently spent a year working on. When i feel discouraged i look back on these works. They show what you can do if you just
do it.
Even though you may spend a whole year and end up with rubbish, they remind me that with just a thought, an idea, and a week of hard work, you can create something new, something to be proud of.

I did the music/ sound
Normally i just work as a cinematographer and sometimes other roles like sound, but for my own films i prefer to be completely hands on, so Audio and Vision is all up to me.
The soundtrack for "The Enigmatic" was recorded quickly to say the least, i drummed up the ideas in my head, recorded and mixed in about 5 hours. I was running out of time, but i think it worked
I used my old Les Paul, into a Marshall compressor and a Blackstar HT 5 amp. In the effects loop i used a EHX #1 Echo, Holy Grail and Micro Synth. So all the sounds come from an Epi Les Paul
Every time i do a soundtrack i almost exclusively use guitar, even for effects! I did sound design for a friend recently and even used a guitar to record ambient footsteps. The guitar is a very flexible instrument to say the least. And long may it reign.
