Yazoo City, Ms. Tornado

As most of you have probably seen by now, I am from Mississippi, Yazoo City is about 2 and a half hours NW of me and it was just leveled by an extremely violent tornado yesterday. Not only that but this same system (and possibly just one tornado) has a storm track of 200 miles. It went completely across the state and did major damage in many places the news has not shown. Worst of all there are 10 fatalaties of which 3 are children. Please keep all of the affected people and their families in your thoughts and prayers as well as those that have been affected by this same storm system in other parts of the U.S. And on that note please remember all the victims of the recent earthquakes and the volcanic eruption in Iceland also. It is so easy to take things for granted until they are gone, in these cases in the blink of an eye.

Much of the news we have in Britain is international but because we have an General Election in two weeks only news that directly touches us is being reported at present, so the volcanic ash cloud stopped air travel and touched us so it was reported broadly.
I knew that big natural things were hitting the USA but I hadn't realised they were as huge. I also wonder if it was reported so little because we expect to hear stories like this every year from the mid states?

Another thing is that I was away working most of the weekend so I missed much of the TV news, however this is deeply sad and I hope that insurance companies, the government and local communities will help to restore normal life to all those touched by this.
