Yeah it brings home the whole mad way we as humans have some total sadistic way of snuffing the life from people. I do believe a life for a life, but i just hope they've caught the right person. Hanging was such a way of life for some people when it was made public for anyone to watch. But when that was abolished another more humane way of torcher was invented. But that paragraph does bring it all home and it does pick up on a some what uncorrect method.

Hi Alex

That sounds an interesting book. I think the death penalty is such an archaic and evil way to punish a person.

I agree with Matt, the death penalty manifests the epitome of an oxymoron. Besides that fact, in the U.S. (one of a handful of countries that still uses capital punishment) it has proven to be a punishment that only poor, uneducated and mainly minorities are eligible for. It's almost a laughable joke to think anyone who can afford a team of lawyers and expert witness testimony might face the death penalty, no matter how heinous the crime. It is a very unfair and biased form of punishment to say the least.

I'm PRO capitol punishmnent !! how many of y'all have had a relative of your family brutally beaten with a shovel whilst they were sleeping in bed at night ???? my uncle who was in his 70's had this happen to him , he was this kind old man who never hurt a fly , knew everybody in the area he once lived and was liked by them .. the killer was never caught .

Untill you have had this happen to someone in your family or close to you .. i'd keep a lid on the "politically correct " trying to intellectualise something that dose'nt need intellectualising !!!

In my oppinion a nation can be judged by the way that it treats its citizens and a forward looking nation should refrain from being brutal evan as punishment for its most brutal infringments.
I do understand how you feel ritchie I have known at least 3 people who have been murdered but I still can't justify capitol punishment.

I agree 110%. No sympathy for a murderer. I know I am a Christian, but an eye for an eye is what I believe. I am SICK of all these rights for these fucking scumbags that go and kill for no reason or for thrill. I say Kill them all and let God sort them out!
I am sorry to hear of your tragedy. That is terrible and truly horrific.

Ritchie; xxx I am so sorry to read of that I really am. Evil of course makes me sick! and you are right I would want to seek vengeance on anyone that hurt those I loved.

A crime of passion to me; ie killing in 'the spur of the moment' is one thing, but having the person incarcerated and kept for months and months or even years and years I find emotionally and intellectually very on a par with what the type of killer they choose to punish/avenge.

Vengeance and law are not the same to me.

I used to be very pro-capital punishment...but I really don't know any more. I think solitary confinement for life, no parole. Nothing but a tiny little 5 inch by 5 inch hole in the wall to serve as a window for sunlight. No shower, 1000 calories worth of food, and a bowl of water. Live like an animal. I'm for that, I think.

I think too much money is spent on jails and prisons anyway. Especially in California, where more dough is spent on prisons than on schools.

Here's a website displaying the costs involved in keeping a prisoner in regular incarceration Vs death row penalty :
http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/costs-death-penalty

It's just absolutely unbelievable the costs associated in keeping these pieces of shit locked up

Thanks for the kind words about the crime that happened to my uncle , it was a long time ago in the early 1980's and I sincerely hope the guilt of having done what the killer(s) did is replayed to them every time they close their eyes and try to sleep hopefully resulting in their suicide .

While I totally agree with your idea Nicole of the type of incarceration these sacks of crap should endure for the rest of thier shitful days , the problem lies with the "politically correct" pussies squeeling that "No person should live like that in those conditions " ....

With all due respect to everyone's opinion, when a person is convicted of a crime and sentenced to jail, should it not be that they lose all their rights as a citizen of that country? That person has violated the laws of that country/state, therefore they should no longer have privledge to the same rights as people who obey the law. In the U.S. that is no longer the case ( or so it seems), our justice system has become very perverted, plea bargains, lesser sentences if you have enough money, even parole, what kind of deterrent to crime is that? The death penalty is a good example, if you are not going to use it in a just and timely manner, then you should not have it. Not saying I'm against it, but punishment is not a deterrent when it is not carried out swiftly and forcefully, be it the death penalty or otherwise.

Alex wrote:Ritchie, calling me a pussy because I don't believe in capital punishment is really out of line. That's not to say I wouldn't want revenge or "justice" — because I would — but I don't think this is the way to go about it. As for the problem in general, I think we (Sweden) need to stop accepting refugees and start deporting the foreigners that can't stay in line (how's that politically correct for you?).

The goal of jail is supposed to be rehabilitation. What is the use of it if it just makes you worse when you are released? In Sweden every convict can get a university degree while in jail. They often get several, in fact. That means they have the ability to become productive members of the society when released.
Whooaaa hold on there son , when did i mention your name and pussy in the same sentence ? or even post ?? sorry if you took it that way ... i'm not pointing a finger at any one particular person .. I said " politically correct pussies " .. never mentioned your name or singled you out .
