Sting has a point but x factor is enjoyable although I find it anoying that singers now only seem to be discovered via TV talent shows instead of writing and performing themselves.
Also these shows place such high emphasis on singing which ignore the mechanics of music ie the people who play it!
The guitarist and KB' players who make it sound like music and the Bass and drummers who make you want to jump up and down or dance!
