On a dig in York they discovered the bones of a person who died at least 2000 years ago, inside the skull part of the brain was still in place
In parts of London bodies are often found from the 19th C that are 100%un-decayed due to soil conditions. But this was found in earth that doesn't freeze and gets very wet.
To give this historical context, it was there as the Romans invaded remained during them leaving 400 years later then the arrival of the Vikings next the Saxons and lastly the French Normans in 1066. And a thousend years after that this brain was discovered!
Had it been in Frozen ground I would not be surprised but I have often been to York and its wet cold and not very often sunny!
Sorry to bore you all but I as somone who digs relics in Britain I find this stunning, My oldest find is 150 years younger than this brain.
