WATCH YOUR BACK! Ironface166, Des, Skezza and me (Trigger)

I live 30 miles from Nottingham, Last week a student was stabbed to death in his Nottingham flat above a pub.
Nobody saw anything and it remained a mystery to his friends and family as to why he was murdered.
A man in Germany is to be arrested and sent to Britain to be questioned by British Police because he has been giving details of the murder on line and taunting the victims girlfriend on Facebook.
The Victim was an admin on a website and was targeted by an un-happy site member
Considering the heat that is generated on RR forums by SOME members perhaps us admins in the community should take precautions?
Joking aside, this is a very sad thing to happen for on-line communities.

its ok, you can come and hide at my place
very sad that another person has to be killed for no good reason though, what a shortsighted, selfish race we are becoming.

ya know. some years ago, when everyone wa susing AOL, prior to myspace and facebook, a friend of mine's daughter was online and in a teen chatroom (bad idea IMO, but we were so ignorant about the dangers of the net back then), anyhow, her daughter and a friend that she knew personally and went to school with were talking in this chatroom and there was another person in there who was kind of antagonizing and trolling and just being a general chatroom asshole. The girls were getting annoyed and talking smack to him, and they should have been in an instant message talking, but they weren't and apparently in talking about school(which school they go to) and the fact that the homecoming game was coming up (and talking about who was going to wear what dress, day the game was taking place, calling eachother by their first names, etc) this guy was taking notes. So, to make a long story short - the dude, who apparently didn't live very far from the town we lived in, showed up at the homecoming game... walked up to my friend's daughter (upon recognizing her dress and hearing someone say her name) and took a full, unopened can of Pepsi and smashed her in the face with it. Broke two of her teeth, fractured her cheekbone, and broke her nose.
3 highschool football players got tohim before he could get to his car and drive off... and beat the crap of him and kept him there until the poilce arrived.
true story. i saw it with my own two eyes.

my son uses xbox live and i constantly tell him NEVER, EVER say where you live, what school you go to, what your name is... all they need to know is your screen name and that you can beat the hell out of them in Halo or whaetver. lol. He's a 14 year old boy and statistically, the most abducted and sexually molested children are 12 year old boys.
How fucking sick is THAT?
Sme with my daughter. She has a myspace, but she has never been allowed to have anyone on her list that she doesnt know personally, and her profile MUST be set to private. She'll be 18 next week and i'll still insist upon it. I dont prohibit my kids from using the internet, but i damn sure monitor it, and try and teach thm WHY you should do this or that or not do this or that, you know? Cuz ther are crazy peopel out there. I know... i'm one of em

Some people just take all the arguing stuff so seriously! Me included often.
I think deep down (see the suggestions thread) 'we' know who to ignore and just roll our eyes at.
This story is a tragedy Ian.

I think everyone should realize who and why people visit sites, take us at UR we know some members are only here for trouble or cheap point scoring! which one of us gives a fucking shit about those kind of members they just remain ignored or given the same consideration as a drunk shouting at traffic lights in you local town.
When freaks like them start taking notes (as in HP's story and the one I mentioned above) it shows how vunerable some people make themselves. I don't think of the internet as the real world but it is a great tool/place to make like minded friends, which is very useful in this day and age and has helped make the world a smaller place.
Us Randy Fans fans owe the net a lot, we have been able to get to know RR as a man and a friend to great guys like Frank and members of his bands.

On a personal level I regard Logan, who I met on myspace 2005, as one of my best friends. Our friendship was born out of a reference by me to his name and Wolverine from X Men. He and his family have stayed in London with us, and us recently in NH, Boston, with his respective family.
I have made some great friends here too and as you know me and Suzie loved meeting Simon (Siroangel from here)and look forward to getting the train to Leceister to stay with Ian.
Mike Lowery (Mike you are in another thread

,Frank, Barbara, Joe, Darin, Paul Wolfe I have loved having a laugh with on the phone.
I am working on stalking Nicole and Rob next and giving them a Lady killer call and Gina baby you are next!!!!

Yeah with any forum chat room etc you don't really know the people 100% and your conversing with total strangers etc.It doesn't take long to be welcomed and a bond is normaly created in a short time, with certain people. Some are more vulnerable then others especially girls/woman.It reminds me of the days of having a CB radio. They could be just sad and lonely and wanting a bit company or a total wacko who just wants to stalk you when he gets enough info about you.Or you get the arse holes in life who just like to get off on watching people get pissed off and damn right angry. We can all hide behind a computer screen and call these individuals but i would seriously think before doing it.Name calling and general abuse can be shrugged off but like what HP said you don't know if any retaliation will ever become of it.That student didn't think he'd get a visit and stabbed to death.I try to ignore any personal comments and brush them off.Treat them like small kids who try to show off infront of adults if you give them any attention they carry on playing the fool.If you ignore them they feel like a total dick and go crying to Mommy for a hug..LOL!! But its true and these tactics do work..and i've seen a few dummies being spat out as well.

So lets all play nice like good kids and no taking shit or sweets from strangers..
