Hello Rybones

I did not think that it was as good as lock stock, but it was still worth watching yeah.

Wait a mimute am i geting confused with rockn rolla hahah?
Got it on Saturday Shanic. I love Gangster films, especially ones set London!

The script is sharp, witty and a plot as complicated and a comedy of errors like in Lock Stock!

I don't enjoy all the trashy comedies that seem to stream out these days but I recorded and enjoyed 'The anchorman' I still didn't enjoy the stupid bits but the macho 70's stuff really made me laugh

And one thing we can't agree on Matt! I can't stand gangster films

Christmas Vacation would have to take that spot for me.

Clark: Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?
Eddie: Na, I'm doing just fine, Clark.

I have purchased quite a few this last two weeks.

Of the ones I have seen so far; Music and Lyrics-This was a fiver and I bought with a soft spot for Hugh Grant films and expected it to be direly funny...it was actually VERY funny and loads of 80's put downs mixed with a weird affection!

American Splendor

This is about a comic bok writer whose invented character is himself! Just a plain grumpy and cynical man trying to get on in life! Strangely very un Amercian in it's production and more like a Channel 4 movie.

Seraphim Falls

This is a Western with Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson. Pierce's charcter right from the word go is being pursued by Liam Neeson and his posse.

You find out later what for and there is a strange vision both men share that leads them both to a strange decision..this is a must see!

Lasty as I have been obsessed with C.S Lewis, we got the 1990's film Shadowlands. Lewis is played by Anthony Hopkins. The film is moving and thought provoking and has some of the nicest scenery of England I have seeon on film. 1950's Oxford is captured beautifully!

It is incredibly too.

Just to defile the seriousness of the above and the last, last one is Death Race with Jason Statahm. A remake, and very similar too, to the Running Man.

It hasn't got a lot of heart, but there is loads of good car chases and brainless fun!

Matt, I love how in 'Music and Lyrics' Hugh is performing for a group of mainly female fans and whilst doing his trademark dance move he strains himself!
High always brings something very British yet amusing to his roles, I spent years really disliking his British upper classness, but in th past few years I have really warmed to him.

We went to see Gran Torino and it was great I really look forward to seeing it again on DVD. The performance by Clint Eastwood was great and his journey from rascist OAP to decent man is really well acted.

Hi Ian

I really want to see that film!

I always enjoy films with him in, he is a superb director too. Ian did you know that an interesting part of him is his life view? Our late friend Dave's son, lives in LA and works as a photographer and film maker and interviewed Clint Eastwood. He said he not interested in talking about Dirty Harry or any other nostalgia past projects. He is just concerned with now, and future projects.

What a great way to be :)

I always admired his work when I was younger but this film although a little tough guy-ish for me was so beautiful.
It tackled things that I hold close to my heart like fighting rascism BUT it placed it as a thing that everyone uses and demonstratated that the races promote it as well as how we ourselves try to rally against it.
I would say it was warts and all and showed everyones failings in sharp focus.
I enjoyed this film more than any I have seen in a long while, it reminded me of 'American History X' another favorite film of mine.

I watched Gran Torino and loved it. Heres the things I loved about it.

(these aint in order of preference)

NO STORY SPOILERS INCLUDED

1) Clint Eastwood singing Gran Torino, his raspy voice really works well with a gentle piano.

2) He is a essentially a bitter old man, a racist bastard! but you feel sorry for him, he is my kind of antagonist, one you can sympathise with which makes him, in a way, the protaganist.

3) I havent seen a film ended like that for quite sometime. (watch the end titles you know what i'll mean)

4) The sense of humour does make you at first "thats nasty" then you can't help but laugh.

5) I also love the last shot of Clint Eastwood on the film, note the way he was positioned.

I saw The Reader...
It was alright. It was a bit long and I don't know if it was a good book to make into a movie. The book was great and really captivating. But the movie faltered a little because the book itself draws so much from what Michael Berg is thinking rather than doing.
Anyway, David Kross and Kate Winslet were great in the movie...Kate definitely deserved the Oscar for it!

I have watched the new Bond every day this week except for yesterday.
It is only one hour forty minutes long. It continues minutes after Casino Royale ends and is a diffeent pace of a film.

I have heard people say that it is non stop action and little else; that is not true and not viewing it as a part ii, rather than an independant movie.

Bond does find out a lot about Vesper's deal in this film and it is refreshing again to see Bond use his scruples and just sheer raw fighting ability to get him self out of scrapes.

The Bond girl for once is more of a woman on a similar mission of vengence and they are platonic companions with similar business interests. Different for Bond but again a welcome difference. I think Daniel Craig is the only contender worthy of being taken as seriously as Sean Connery's Bond.

If you haven't seen it give it a chance

Shaun, it is the lady killer face..not killer face. Mind you I suppose I could work on a killer face ;)

From my male perspective I think he is good looking. In a real way too, not all fake like a athena black and white picture from the 90's.

UR ladies, your opinions?
