No fun at all going through shit like that, I can't even imagine what it's like! I'm so glad I live in Norway, away from most of those storms and such... BTW, plenty of unbuilt soil for you to settle down on over here! :D 8)

Hi Gina

I can see the problem, we all start to feel nailed to the spot the older we get. I am lucky because where we live is an hour and a half from London and within an hour we can be at the coast. We can travel 60miles and pass so many cities and beauty spots. Hop on a plane in 2 hours you are in sun drenched Spain and Italy, fly for 4 hours and you can be in Africa or Middle Eastern Asia (my personel favorite 8) ). That is the benefit of living on a small island. i can see that living on such a large (and in some areas empty) land mass like the USA can present a few limitations.

Anyway don't forget you are coming to see me for a holiday :D

Hey Gina

Is Shaun being silent on this? or is it that he is busy sorting booking flights for all of us

Well, it's me again. The dining room table and chairs have arrived, as well as my bed. Just need to get a mattress for it. Abby's bunk bed arrives tomorrow. Here's the kicker...the A/C is broken!!! Someone apparently doesn't want me to get back in my house, I am thoroughly convinced of it. When Ab's bed arrives and put up, I'll take some photo's along with one of the two curio cabinets that we've put together.
Wish me luck!!

Not sure if I wanted to know that you have everything crossed, Ian, but thanks!

Well, the A/C guy came by today(something that the owner never does, is go out on service calls, but since he knows Mike, he came out this morning). He tried to fix it, but he said something about a squirrel cage and motor. All I know, is that they tell me that they'd have to order the part and it would take about 2 months. I just broke down and cried. Another Christmas in the damn trailer! Then, the idiot I married tells me that he's just kidding. I was sooooo pissed at him, I could not see straight. the A/C guy comes in and tells me that it'll be 58 days before he could do it, and Mike told him that he already played that card. They had a good laugh over it. NICE. They both were extremely lucky that the girls were in the room, and that the hammer was not in my hand at the time.
The part will be picked up Monday, and Tuesday they will fix it.
I thought that if I had to spend another 2 months in the trailer, that I was going to take the rest of the money (not much), and stay at a hotel. And not tell the idiot where.
Anyway, here are pictures of the table, beds, and curios:

DiningRoom Table. The middle part is the leaf that folds up into the table. The table is actually what they call a "pub table". I'll put up a picture of the table as a smaller version later.

Master Bed. Gotta go and get mattress. Wasn't going to spend $700.00 on some dinky mattress. We'll go to the Mattress Mart and get one there.

Image
Image

Abby's bunk bed. That's Sarah stretched out. She's claiming the bottom bunk until we get her furniture.

Here are the curio cabinets that I bought to show off some of my "stuff".
When I figure out what I want to put in them, I'll post some more pictures of them. I may actually get another one, in case I need more display area. These are in the living room.

Believe it or not, I've actually been good. I haven't bought anything on ebay that Mike put on probation! Actually, the curios were the last thing I bought.
My body aches at the moment, from stretching to get the major dust bunnies on the ceiling fans, and cleaning the floors. At least we were able to put up some shades to keep the sun out.

Here is the dining room table "open" to make it from a table for 8 to a table for 4-6.
Image

Here is the leaf folded into the table. I thought it was "wicked cool". Ok, lame.
Image

Doesn't look different from the 8 table setting, but here it is.

My sofa will be delivered August 25. The A/C is working! Now, to get the huge-ass tv that Mike wants....
Actually, the biggest we can go is 50", so that it will hang on the wall between the two front windows. At least we agree on one thing, we do not want a plasma TV. LCD is better from what we have heard.

Me again. The sofa might be delivered earlier, since I took off this week. I thought that we'd be in this weekend, but NO...... the mattress wont be delivered until Wednesday evening. $700 for a mattress and box spring! and that was the "low end" mattress at a discount store!!! This is starting to really wear on the wallet. Actually, I'm quite nervous, because I don't think I have enough for the sofa when it gets delivered! I'll just have to deal with it!

A little off topic, but here is a view of the Mississippi River from a wedding reception I went to last night...

Mattress was delivered yesterday, I'll post a picture of the "bondage bed" when I get the bed stuff on it.

Saw this today:

Katrina Anniversary Plans
(Chalmette, LA) -- Officials today are announcing this year's events commemorating the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. A news conference announcing further details will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Bernard Parish Civic Complex in Chalmette. Planners from Orleans, St. Bernard, Jefferson, Plaquemines and St. Tammany parishes are sharing plans for August 29th. Events will include solemn remembrances, ground breaking for the Katrina Memorial and celebrations of progress over the past two years.

I can not believe that it has been that long since I've lived in my house.
