i agree with Paul's post (don't faint) pretty much in it's entirety. There really hasnt been ANY good choices in a very long time. I hate to admit this, but I voted for Perot one election because the other two options, in my opinion, were just THAT bad... and it's not like Perot has every lightbulb in the house burning, so what does THAT tell you! lol.
Sadly, though, Paul - this ideal candidate that you speak of? The one who will actually have something to bring to the table... will probably end up assasinated. That's probably why neither party puts their best foot forward, as you say... lol... all the good guys are kicking back going "are you kidding me? hell NO! why dont you just paint a targt on my head!" - i know, that's so bad, but... this IS america.
And you are so right, the campaign slogans these guys put out just simply need to say "Vote for me! Hey... it's better than the other guy!"
it's really hard to be a patriotic american anymore. does anyone else agree? i mean, dont get me wrong. i love my country, and i WOULD die for it, make no mistake. I love everything that this country was founded on and all the ideals that it stands for. But man, our goverment just fucks us over at every turn... it's just getting harder and harder to be patriotic. And the "american pride" is about out the window. I had a friend who went to Europe recently... she said she told everyone she was from Canada after about the first day simply because the attitudes she got form saying she was american. pople HATE us, and the sad thing is... our goverment is NOT representative of the people...

you and me both sister. especially after Dime did such a GREAT job doing that Cat Scratch cover, retaining as much of the original integrity of the song as he could... didnt butcher it up... didnt alter it until you cant even tell what song it is anymore (like what courtney love did to stevie nicks' gold dust woman, for example. ug, nails on a chalkboard...) and Dime was such a fan... so child-like in that respect. Bright eyed and lookin up to Ted. That remark really didnt set right with me either.
P.S. - i cannot believe that the politics thread is more amicable than some of the other threads around here. usually this is the topic that gets sand in everyones vagina....

Joking aside I think the British system makes sense and the US Presidential sytem seems complex contrived and expensive compared to us here. I am involved in Politics here in Britain and although I believe our system is good I have problems seeing it develop into somthing that intafears in areas of the world that are nothing to do with us.
