Animated TV shows, boring and enjoyable!

Post by Trigger »

Like everyone I have watched 'The Simpsons' and really enjoyed the writing and the plots but over the past couple of years I began to see it as a little childish and formulaic.
I really disliked 'South Park' and 'Beavis and Buthead' and found them just too immature and silly!
A few weeks ago I was in a shop and I found four complete season DVD box sets 1-4 of 'King of the Hill' for $3 each and they were new!!
I remember liking them so I took them home and re-watched them and discovered just how funny and simple they were! What I really enjoyed was that they were like very easy dramas/light comedy with nothing that made you suspend disbelief in the plot or the story, these stories could have been made with real actors and I imagine it would have been cheaper and quicker but the animated element added to the enjoyment for m, had it been acted I don’t think I would have gone near it!

'King of the Hill' is now in its 13th season and the owners 'Fox' have decided to not sell any of the seasons that are at present unreleased seasons 7 onwards because it doesn't make them enough $$$$$$$$$!!!!!!

I wondered if anyone here likes the series KOH and if a real life based animation like KOH is as enjoyable as the more contrived animations like Simpsons etc?

I never used to like 'South Park' but the modern episodes are really good, the immature comedy and terrible plots are replaced with painfully funny political satire and proper writing. Maybe the shows producers hired new writers?

I never really watched 'King of the Hill' Ian, but i remember catching bits of episodes every now and then, at the time i was too young to get it (or perhaps there is nothing to get?) but looking back it was a really smart show. I cant really comment on it as i haven't watched an episode in years, but its a real change of pace from normal animation.

I had a bargain myself recently. I picked up the ultimate collectors edition of 'Blade Runner' for £10. All five versions of the film plus the bonus material, hell yeah!

I used to like Family Guy, but now I can't stand it because it seems to be the same jokes over and over again. (And, by Family Guy, I mean ALL Seth MacFarlane shows, because they all have the same plot/characters however slightly changed they are)

I like South Park, but personally I like the older episodes more. I usually prefer the older shows, like Invader Zim, and such.

King Of The Hill was another favorite show of mine. Shame Brittany Murphy died, and the show was canceled. I'm also a fan of The Simpsons, though I rarely ever watch it (Simply because I never think about the times it comes on)
