URBANDALE, Iowa (AP) — Police say metal band Slipknot bassist Paul Gray has been found dead in an Iowa hotel room.
Police say a hotel employee found the 38-year-old Gray dead in a room Monday at the Town Plaza Hotel in Urbandale, a suburb of Des Moines. Foul play isn't suspected.
The Polk County Medical Examiner's Office plans an autopsy Tuesday.
Most of the band's members grew up in the Des Moines area.
Slipknot is known for its grotesque masks, and released its first album in 1999. It sold more than a million copies.

Wow, that's too bad. Are they still a functioning band? They seem to take long breaks between albums and tours. I don't really follow them, but it's still sad to hear when someone checks out at a young age.
Whenever I put on Blizzard or Diary, what a wonderful, delicate furious beast.... I MISS you, man!

very sad news I remember seeing them for the first time in 1996 playing with Ozzy.

Just read it on CNN.com
WTF is up with the Rock world these days? Ronnie James Dio, Peter Steele from Type O Negative, now #2 from Slipknot? I've seen them 4 times live, and they've kicked my ass everytime. AMAZING live band.
