Okay, so my 15-year-old down in California has decided, once again, that he wants to play guitar. He has asked me if I've got any DVDs to help him learn - I've got LOADS!
So what I'm wondering is, since his mom insists on only using Macs, what stuff that I have on disc could I share with him? For example, I've got a lot of lessons in .avi format, will a Mac play those or do I need to convert them? Most of the lesson books are in .pdf and most audio is .mp3 - are those Mac compatible?
Finally, what about data DVDs I burn on a Windows computer? If I only burn Mac compatible stuff on a DVD, will a Mac be able to read it, having been burned on a Windows computer? Or would it be better to upload stuff and have him download it?
The reason I'm asking all of this, is because, over the years, I've purchased software for the kids only to have their mom say, "Yeah, that won't work on our computer." One year I bought an expensive anime art program for my daughter, made sure it was Mac compatible and she never got to use it, because mom said, "Just because it says on the box that it's compatible, that doesn't mean it actually is compatible."
So I want to make sure that if I send him stuff, that it'll actually work. Otherwise I'll just burn DVDs and send those. I'd prefer data disc, so I can get more content to him at a time, but I'll have to do hat I have to do.
