It's too late my friend the poles are melting faster then a popsickle in a nuclear reactor. So if i turn into a non meat eater i'll be doing my bit to save the planet....FUCKING BULLSHIT call me ignorent but the planet is doing alot more to fuck it up big time. I'm off for a huge steak..."how do you like your steak Sir..?" "Just cut the horns off and wipe its ass ".oth wrote:You might learn something.Dont be so naive. You sound like one of those global warming deniers trying to say the poles arent melting before our eyes.

moving this subject back on topic, I have to add to this that I have been really toying with making the move to cutting out meat from my diet fully.
Jessica doesnt touch meat for political reasons as well as lifelong habit and we support each others political beliefs.
I now wonder considering my own strong political ideals and the fact I don't eat meat at home, I wonder if I should take the plunge fully?
I ask the non meat eaters here this, why did you make the choise to not eat meat?

Hi Ian
To be blunt I found the idea of putting something in my mouth that had been a living being with a brain disgusting. Nothing to do with loving animals ot believing that they shouldn´t be used for clothes or meet, just sheer disgust.

I don't want to start a fight with you, oth, but I do want to state that if there were rats, shouldn't you have informed the health department and done something to help stop the situation? Every little bit helps. We have the less-than-healthy food these days because people don't want to make a stand and fight for better.oth wrote:Do you eat bacon, pork, ham?I used to work in a restaurant and all our foodscraps, and food the customer didnt finish eating would all be scraped off into waste bins that would sit and rot outside with rats running around. Those bins were picked up and sold to pig farms who feed their pigs with it and then you buy that bacon etc at the grocery. This means you have eaten this rotting garbage.
Now, as for the 'global warming' thing. How long have we humans been recording the weather patterns and checking the poles? By comparison, how old is the planet? The earth goes through natural change over the millions of years, right? So isn't it possible that the changes we see are as much a part of a natural cycle as they are the fault of mankind?
Yes we pollute too much. Yes we need to preserve the rain forest. But I believe we should be careful who we listen to, every side has it's experts who will manipulate data to convince us that they are right.
When I was a kid, I heard that 'the rain forest is being destroyed at a rate of 1 square mile every minute'. Everyone was alarmed and got all upset. Today there are still rain forests and a whole lot of minutes have gone by! If the comments from my youth were indeed true, the rain forests would have vanished generations ago... but they didn't.
So, like I said, we must be judicious with who we put our faith in. Will an anti-beef author simply manipulate data to fit his agenda or will he discuss any surprising finds that don't fit his agenda? I don't know.
I'd rather work on saving people first before rain forests and polar bears. When I hear about 11 year old girls in Thailand being trafficked into America and then sold into sex slavery, I really couldn't give two shits about polar bears. Same goes for the 3 million people who have starved to death in North Korea (in the last decade alone) and the young boys that are forced to become child soldiers in Africa. People first, trees second. It saddens me when I can walk into Target and see tote bags that say "Recycle." Why can't I get a tote bag at Target that says "Stop Human Trafficking"?
I am not a vegan/vegetarian, for some people this works just not for me. I do try to have a few days where I only eat veggies, but I'm more interested in cutting out sodas and refined sugars than anything. I try to keep everything in balance and moderation (I don't always make it) when it comes to diet (and life for that matter) as I think that is how God intended it. My saving grace as far as my diet goes is that I don't really care for sweets and I've never tried alcohol so I don't see the point of trying it now.

What is unusual is the restaurants in Spain's version of being a vegetarian.
You look at a pizza menu and it says vegetarian next to it with a list of ingrediants that says something along the lines of... A crisp stone back pizza with courgettes, Mushrooms, sweetcorn tomatoes and bacon!!
WTF!!! LOL
