Equilibrium (The Film)

Post by JustTakeAPebble »

Your thoughts?

I personally enjoyed the film and by doing so have payed for it after watching it on Film Four last night.

So why did I enjoy it?

I enjoyed it because of the nature of its theme, in order to eradicate war and crime, we must remove emotional responses as it is emotions that bring us to war. Hatred, Lust, Greed, all supressed by the drug used in the film, the city is sterile and cold as steel which gives no human statsifaction of any sort. Added to that the burning of paintings, books and the authorities kill on sight anyone who apposes the ideals. However there are humans who reject this lifestyle and refuse to give in to the authority. Thus creating protagonists to distrupt the "Equilibium" humanity has set itself.

When film antagonist Cleric John Preston (Christian Bale) killed his partner (Sean Bean) for "sense crime" he begins to express a slight emotional response to this which causes him confusion of how to take these emotions he has supressed for quite sometime, possibly all his life. This turns the antagonist into a protagonist as he begins to see all what he has been doing is no different to what he and the rest of the society have hoped to abolish. Murdering innocent people on the trivial reason of peace. So he begins to lead a resitance against the organisation he once believed was the ideal way.

This film was a fantastic film to watch and even though I may have ruined it for you all at UltimateRhoads. I hope you get chance to see it.

Cologne she'll wear silver and americard, She'll drive a beetle car and beat you down at cool Canasta. And when the clothes are strewn don't be afraid of the room touch the fullness of her breast feel the love of her caress she will be your living end.
