What do you all think of the Paul Verhoeven 1987 film RoboCop?
What do you think of the fact, Hollywood is in production of a revamped version of the original film, filmed in 3D?
Also, anyone notice the unemployed person on RoboCop was played by Edward Van Halen? ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ID80fUT5SwQ )
Does anyone notice also in the film there are subtle christ references in the film?

Yes on the directors commentary Paul says he has him shaped like he is being crucified before he comes back as Robo Cop.
I can't remember if it is 2 or 3 but there is a funny bit (that is meant to be serious) when Robocop has turned non compliant and they exclaim "ROBOCOP DISOBEYED A DIRECT ORDER" LOL

Well, I noticed a few christ influences.
1) Murphy is outnumbered moments before his death, Boddicker steps on his arm and aims and fires at Murphy's hand, blowing it off.
Which resembles Pilate nailing christ to the crucifix.
2) Murphy's death then created into Robocop.
Which resembles Christ's ressurection.
3) On one scene towards the end, there is a brief moment Robocop actually appears to walk on water, this is at the old warehouse.

Jesus walked on water.
I must say, I have to laugh when Verhoeven actually says on the commentary, he views Robocop as the "American Jesus"
especially concerning with not just the influences but Robocop's line "I'm not arresting you anymore"
