Why not the Strat?
I know Randy had a Strat but does anyone know why he stopped playing Strats and went on to Les Pauls? Did he use a Strat on the 2 QR albums?
I could be wrong but I just wanted to get more info on his use of Strats.

a Strat could've been used on Blizzard tooskezza wrote:Les Paul was used on Blizzard,
Les paul I think was used on QR I/II
Strat was POSSIBLY used on diary of a madman, it was owned by the director or producer or something. it was a bare wood finish!
... but as far as I read, the albums were so heavily mixed with
humbucker equipped guitars so a strat won't be noticable really.

there are 11 guitar parts on You Can't Kill Rock and Roll, I am sure he probably used the strat as well as other guitars (12-string firebird) on that for texture.
His sister said he loved the Les Paul more than any other guitar he had played, I'm guessing that'd be why he didn't play strats more. Not to mention, the "super strats" popularized by EVH were only coming into production aroud the time of his death...

Well Eddies Frankenstrat basically was a super strat and if randy had of played one of those, he already had expressed displeasure at being reffered to as eddie, so it wouldnt have helped!RockyRhoads wrote:there are 11 guitar parts on You Can't Kill Rock and Roll, I am sure he probably used the strat as well as other guitars (12-string firebird) on that for texture.
