a conversation w/ Karl Sandoval
i just got off the phone w/ Karl talking about ordering a PDV and things in general. i have to say it was a great 45 minute conversation and a lot of questions were answered about the original guitar and the modern build, including a couple questions about randy's preferences in the build. a very cool guy indeed.

sorry, i was away for a few days.AeolianMad wrote:And what has changed from the original to the modern build.
the main difference is the neck. now it's a 2 way adjustable truss rod in a maple neck.
no more nitro finish-can't do that in cali anymore.
everything else is basically the same w/ better pots & switch.
like randy, i prefer the gibson 50's "basaball bat" fat neck & smaller frets.
i'll post more info as we iron out more details.

u can still do nitro laqs in cali.. for instruments... its just harder to get and takes for ever to dry.. plus urethanes are a more durable finish and u can get the guitar done faster.
