Wow,I just found this after searching for a while, and while your all quick to assume Ozzys a shmuck,He would NEVER,release an Inferior product,(sound quality wise)
It seems logical that this could be legit.
Think about it,it was Ozzys 1st American gig as a solo artist, and it sold out so quick they did 2 gigs that night, both sellouts. And he was "On" at the begining of that tour,so his vox may be acceptable,
It would seem a proper moment to document for prosperity, right?Mabey its the rumored stolen footage from Don Arden,he was
in charge and saw the potential ,or mabey Sharon had it filmed. This tour was the foundation for Ozzys career.

after searching i cant seem to confirm in-house cameras there,& no other pro video footage from there w/the exception of Zappa MTV Halloween 81.
but there is a boot of Maiden, from 82 that very well could be the footage at the end/cutoff of Believer on the NY boot!

I wonder if PM was this random guy?

Sh1t! I hope that the show was pro shot. If they put out clips of the stuff we have seen for years I will join you guys on that whiskey bender.

Someone ask Sharon to confirm this stuff. Ozzy leaking little factoids at book signings and interviews is getting us all nuts.

ANNOUNCE THE F*@KING THING ALREADY!

I would think if Ozzy released it, and its the same single cam footage we have seen, I doubt it would be a crappy copy and be the wrong pitch. I could see him just adding just part of a show like that as bonus footage to his current dvd release though. I hope thats not the case! We already know theres more footage so time will tell. I know one thing, the waiting to find out is nothing new! Maybe we will here from one of the camps with something concrete and a release date attached to it by July!?

Footage

I'd hardly call the Palladium footage that we've all seen 'amazing'. Maybe Ozzy really has the real deal?

Well, there goes the pin that popped my balloon. Shoulda known. Thank god no one shows him Sabbath footage or you'd hear "Wow,that's incredable. I didn't know I was in a band before. I guess that explains why they call me a solo artist."

I don't think Ozzy would have raved so much if he had seen the Paladium footage that I saw! I have never got to past the first minute or so of that because it is so difficult to watch.
I beleive Ozzy was enthuisiastic because what he has seen was worth seeing.

I think everone is over reacting , no way ozzy would release palladium over after hours or anything else. And again from what kg said he is hearing the quality is very good and as good or better than after hours

I agree with you guys. They are not going to bother taking the time and spending the money transferring & mastering what most of us own as bootleg or have seen on youtube. After Hours excluded, of course :)
I would guess the O's would need to have Dee sign off on this proposed DVD as well, and I doubt she would for poor quality.
It's a serious claim for them to make publicy for footage that's widely regarded as inferior. Not meaning to sound ungrateful, as there isn't much Ozzy era footage available, but I don't find myself watching it very often...or all the way through for that matter.
The one suprising thing I find in Sharon is this: she has never ordered any of Ozzy's footage to be taken down from youtube.
Some people are absolute bastards about that, and I would expect the same from her, yet, Randy, Brad, Jake and Zakk are all there. Ditto for the promo (MTV) videos. 8)
Lastly, I doubt it was Ozzy who actually made the Twitter post. I'm not knocking the guy...we all know he is dyslexic, as well as easily befuddled by technology. I would guess it was either Sharon herself or Tony Dennis quoting what Ozzy had just said.
All bullshit aside...I have one leg out of Ozzy's fanclub, and I'll never be in Sharon's, but that has to be a tough fuckin' room to be in, mastering this video. They've conveyed how tough it was mixing Tribute back in the day, this must be that experience times five, as they can actually see the guy
It must be awesome, in the true sense of the word, and heartbreaking for them at the same time
Whenever I put on Blizzard or Diary, what a wonderful, delicate furious beast.... I MISS you, man!

I think Ozzy would call the Palladium footage amazing because he hasn't seen it before... The O's didn't own it, and I HIGHLY doubt anyone in the Osbourne camp pays any attention to what goes on these Rhoads boards. It is amazing to him because it was from a special time in his career. As for youtube, not only have the Ozzy videos stayed up this whole time, but also the studio recordings. Maybe they own the rights to all their material and they're not all that concerned about it? After all, the owner of the copywrited material in question has the option to have it pulled or leave it up there.

This is my opinion of course, and I hope I'm wrong, but we are going to get something we all have already seen (meaning short clips) added as a bonus to the upcoming Ozzy DVD. All this chatter coming from the Osbournes is nothing more than hype to help sell it. If it was truly a full, pro shot concert, you would hear that. The only reason you wouldn't get the details if a full show was available is if there were legal issues that needed to be sorted out. Everyone talks about Delores approving stuff, but I would bet that Kelle Rhoads is alot more involved these days, and chances are he would allow anything to come out.

I think the only way a full pro shot show exists that we don't know about is if it was filmed by in house cameras at a venue and the O's immediate retrieved the copy. I doubt an outside production company was involved because from the sound of it, they really hadn't really been pulling in alot of money in the early days. By all accounts, they were roughing it during those early tours and only started to really break during the Diary tour. I suppose there could be more footage from 2 on the Town or ET, but I wouldn't count on there being too much more of that either.

I was thinking about the Doc too and I wondered if the reason we haven't seen it yet or heard any news about it is because the O's have so much stuff coming out (the Ozzy movie, the book, the DVD, etc...) and they want to corner the market so to speak on all things Ozzy and didn't want anyone else to steal their thunder (or their money!). Maybe the are the ones holding it up? It is common knowledge that Sharon is a shrewd business woman....

Just my $.02. I'll "run along" now... ;)

Solo's

I just don't believe that the Paladium show we all know and accept is anything that excited Ozzy, and if the O's are wanting to hold up the doc to get a Randy video out there for us as a cash in! so beit, that doesn't worry me I imagine the doc will air at some point and it is the footage we crave and after this long none of care where it comess from or if it a big $ spinner.

Right. He's going to 'share' some footage that is all over YouTube already? Geez, you gotta imagine SOMEBODY in Ozzy's camp is aware that the 2.5 song footage has been out there for years. I'm still staying positive. Can you imagine Sharon releasing the Palladium footage as is? I sure can't.

Disapointed i am.... thought we would have something no one has ever seen before.....
I never understood why major labels have to officialise materials which have been traded between fans for so many years....
- Is that so difficult to dig up the vault???
- What is the point ???... Everybody already have it.....

12:38 PM Jan 22, 2010 on Twitter:
"Just watched never before seen footage of Randy and me from 1981. I’m speechless. I will share with you later this year on a live dvd"

4:41 PM Jan 27, 2010 update, In The Pipeline: The wizardry of Ozzy:
“I think about him a lot,” he said. “The day before yesterday, some guy gave me some amazing footage of us playing at our first show in New York City, at the Palladium. I have no idea where this footage came from, and it was amazing seeing Randy like that."

The question is: IF "the day before yesterday" mentioned in the 'Pipeline' interview was jan 22nd ...... ?
IF he talked about the 'Palladium' on Twitter then that would be AWESOME news! :D Very well TWO shows (!) could be shot then. Randy's playing and sound was excellent there! They can even release a double concert then! 8)
BUT we can't tell for sure if in both occasions he talked about the same footage. That's the big :?:
Don't mind at all IF "the day before yesterday" was jan 22nd.

One thing I know for sure: it's not gonna be the same Palladium footage to be released as we have now. It will be PRO quality for sure, he is not gonna release some 'crappy' stuff that only will be appreciated by a couple of hundreds Randy fanatics. There is no point for him to do that. If I'm correct someone here asked Ozzy and he confirmed it was Pro shot.
Solos wrote:I think Ozzy would call the Palladium footage amazing because he hasn't seen it before...
Could be very well.... but he doesn't say here that what he saw will be released. (like he said on twitter). It could be some stuff we haven't seen before that was send to him by a collector who was maybe 'triggered' by the recent events...... who knows?

I fully agree Patrick it makes no sense to imagine that this is the Paladium footage we all know about but considering the hype and the fact that this led to this venue requesting a second show on the same day, anyone with some cash would consider it wortwhile to film it if they had the means. Add to this the fact that the whole double show thing led to a fight which lost Randy 2 band mates!
It was early in the tour in the biggest US city so far so why not let a small crew film the show?

Lots of reasons to see why this band would 100% pro-shoot a number of shows during this massive rise to stardom, but no reason on earth why they would let this incredible band go un recorded! the recieved wisdom of no pro shot video makes no sense whatsoever concidering they had a full show recorded by the record company a few months before.

I hope this is not the case. I got my copy Off the master. It also had the motorhead full set with it. and the maiden 82 footage as well the motorhead footage was cool to see but I would rather had 30 min. of Ozzys set. If Ozzyputs that out I will also be on a 4 day bender and I havent drank in years..
