I think too many people concern themselves too much with the final moments of Randy's life. It was an accident, it happened, it cannot be undone. I'd rather focus on the brilliance of every moment of his life prior to 8 AM March 19, 1982.

What model Tour Bus was used on the road in March 1982?

* Prevost

* American Eagle

* Dutch Star

If not any of the above, what company manufactured it?

The winner of the rat race is still a rat.

I must admit I slant towards feeling this too. I think photgraphs of the crash wouldn't be tasteless..but there is something about a child-like drawing that adds an amost comedy slant to it.

Guitar magazines can be very insensitive. In Total Guitar last year a very flippant sentence was used about RR saying how he was a great player until he decided to take a nose dive into a bus!

I think there are a lot of magazine people who weren't around in the early '80's and only got into Randy later on. As such they don't seem to understand the importance of the event.

I've read similar flippant comments about Hendrix, Sid Vicious and even the incident with Clapton's son that inspired Tears in Heaven.

Thank you all for your input on 1982 Tour Bus model.

A good friend of mine, who drives a 1993 Prevost 46 footer, said it might be a MCI. He is not sure though. The entertainment shell is usually made by another manufacturer. That link to Nashville Pussy band and Zakk Wylde using the same tour bus from the 1982 road trip sounds like it deserves investigations for validity.

Somewhere there has to be a police report and insurance investigation on the exact damage to the bus by it's model number. Moreover, the past and future owners of the subject tour bus must provide these details for licensing purposes.

Here is a side view of a MCI bus:

Image
1975 MC8 Bus 40 Ft. This Bus was originally a tour bus in New Brunswick Canada.

Possibly the road crew for The Black Label Society knows the exact facts we seek.

I used to work on busses for a bit

looks a lot like a prevost.. can't say for sure (would have to see the front)

one thing I can say for sure is that they (busses in general) are real pieces of crap

and some good advice "NEVER TAKE A GREYHOUND BUSS ANYWHERE"

probably safer to hitch hike

It's kind of like they took the NTSB sketch and colored it and cartoon-ified it.

Yes, Cartoon-ified is actually a word.

Yeah i can definately see that they have picked up on the original sketches 'cartoon-ified' or not,they've even included the landing gears position outside the garage.

In Rudys book he said that Don Airey was taking photos of the plane in the air with his telephoto lens, did these photos ever see the light of day? Not trying to be morbid, just curious..

I think those photos would be a very sad reminder and i don't think Don Airey would look at those much, if ever.I don't think they'll ever be seen because of the event that followed. A lot like the photos of Randy's funeral,i couldn't see me wanting to see those very much.Too much like a bad 'before and after' memory. Don is very much like other people who witnessed the crash i.e Jake Duncan the tour manager who went up in the plane with Don. They would rather remember RR for who he was at the time before his death.
