Sykes actually has said that Randy was one of his favorite newer guitarists.

I can hear Randy in some of Frank Hannons playing from Tesla. Like Modern Day Cowboy.

When and where did he say that? I've read so many interviews
with Sykes but never heard that RR thing before...

Absolutely:) I thought that, too!
If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that's his problem. Love and peace are eternal. John Lennon

Here's an odd one to you all, it's Bernie Torme with Ian Gillan in 1979. Very randyish before Randy became famous!! 8)

I have heard Frank from Tesla say he talked to Dee Rhoads and told her how he was influenced by Randy's playing. There may be audio somewhere. Randy's playing was very melodic. When you slow it down it's just as cool as it is fast. Hell, slow down (play 33 for the 45) Over the mountain and even the riff is so tight, it's impressive.

I was watching the Alice Cooper DVD Halloween Night of Fear and during Orianthi's spotlight solo I swear I hear quotes from Randy... I'm liking that kid's playing more and more.

Kiss Creatures of the night from the cd of the same name reminded me of Over The Mountain.
