randy's was maple with poplar wings....the RR5 has alder wings
randy's had an ebony fretboard....RR5 are rosewood
the hardware/plates on randy's were brass....RR5 are gold plated
all these differences change the tone a bit...........
the sharkfin inlays on randy's are smaller than the RR5
and off course the RR5 a made in japan
The RR5 are really good guitars for the money (as are the RR24, which have the ebony board for a slightly closer clone) and are a good choice if you can't afford an RR1

Re: What's the differences between Randys Black Jackson and
It seems as if there is no polish on the guitar, so it isn't shining like the RR1. I know that other models include a pinstripe that goes around the guitar like the Concorde. It don't think it comes with the same pickups as the RR1, and, like sytharnia said above, the woods used for the neck and body are much different. The looks seem different in the one shown in the eBay pic, but I've seen some RR5's like that one and they are polished (Guess you can call it gloss). To make it a real RR1, you'd probably have to switch pickups out. I have also noticed a few of these RR1's have tremolo bars, but it seems there is no tremolo lock... no Rose, Kahler, Charvel.... but I don't recall the RR1 having a tremolo bar... I guess they did release a few with trems. on them, but didn't think about the detuning. I'm just amazed to see how many RR1 replica's there still are in the world. If you type them in "RR1 Jackson" in the search bar, there will be tons of sites that claim they have them. Guitar center has quite a few (I Know the guitar center near me currently has one), and there a few selling on eBay, as well as other auctioning/music sites. Does anyone know how many of these replica's they made? I wonder why they weren't too popular... 2.5k is alot, but nothing compared to the Concorde or Randy's LP replica... and I haven't seen the price of these RR1's decline for the 2 years I've been looking at them... maybe 100-200 bucks... If I had some deep pockets, I'd definitely buy one because it is a nice guitar, but I think buying an RR5 in the same color would be much cheaper. All you gotta do is pay an extra 200 bucks for the pickups that Randy used..
Now my fingers are killing me from this typing....
Questions....
How much did these replica's cost when they first came out?
How many were made?
What kind of humbuckers did Master Rhoads use on the RR1?

The RR5 has the same pick ups as randy had so you don't have to spend the extra cash there...Axeman1956 wrote: All you gotta do is pay an extra 200 bucks for the pickups that Randy used..

I think you might be confused about the RR1?? it wasn't a replica in was what they call/ed the production run of V's after randy died, so randy never had an RR1 (i'm assuming they would have been called the concorde model if he hadn't died...but after his death they started to use RR as the model out of respect to him)
In terms of replicas are you talking about the limited run of the black guitar they did (I think they only did 25 or something) ?? I haven't seen one for sale in a long long time. I'm pretty sure they had gold hardware to

Yea I remember seeing photo back in 84 so it was a closer production line but even on that one looks like the neck is rosewood, and the placement of the tailpiece sits further back than the bridge where Randy's was close almost touching the bridge. This one doesn't have the brass pickup rings like Randy's which is small detail and the bridge looks black except for the string height pieces inside. Looks like Jake took one of the tone knobs out also.sik_kreations wrote:heres a pic of jake with one those original rr1's
