question about altecs & randys marshall cabinet?

Post by thepolkadots »

Did the altecs fit inside a regular marshall 1960 cabinet, or did the cabinet need to be modified to accomodate the larger magnet size of those altecs?

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't fit into the cab....with every marshall I have owned there is plenty of room behind the speakers for large magnets

They fit easily in a 1960 Marshall cabinet, no problem!
(better use a bit longer screws because the altecs have a thicker frame than celestions, sometimes the screws are not long enough)

ditto on the longer screwsbut, yes, they do fit w/ no problem.
in fact altec is back in business so to speak.
great plains audio bought the original altec machines & is reproducing the speakers again.
they are a bit spendy though.
