Fender Flying V???

Post by Axeman1956 »

I have a pic that came from Slingblades awesome collection. It clearly shows Randy holding his Fender V. I remember hearing about it a few months ago, but never saw it. I can't find anything on it. Can anyone give me a little info on it?

that's not a fender, it's a dean. i heard or read he just borrowed it, and that he didn't think it was that great. but dean trys to make it a big deal and capitalise on it.

Actually, I believe Randy liked Dean guitars a lot. That is, until he tried to get a deal with them. He was refused because the Dean representative didn't know who he was, so, he claimed they were firewood after that and ditched them.

i'm not so sure about Dean capitalizing on it. sure, they have a picture of him with that
guitar and everything, but it's not like they are using his name to sell any existing models.

Did they not use a pic of Randy with that Dean V on an advertising poster. I'd say that was using someone with the impact of him being a user of Dean guitars. As we know he only used that guitar for one gig.

Apparently so. Talk about a guitar company eating crow. Now they give endorsements to almost ANYONE!
Randy basically told them (In polite Randy fashion) to stick it up their ass (with the firewood comment). Way to go Dean........ FAIL!
